@@TimWelchVocalStudio as a vocal teacher I believe you'd find Ren's "Fred Again Mash-up" would make a wonderful YT video for you to comment on. You can cover the multiple vocal techniques he uses as well as seeing his powerful use of vocal dynamics to elevate the song. Ren takes 5 of the most popular songs by a UK EDM DJ / Producer Fred Again, mashes them together and then transforms them into a brilliant acoustic performance, just him a guitar and a mic, recorded live, one camera, one take. It's all singing and melodic from start to finish so I know you'll enjoy that. Near the end of this mash-up he almost had me in tears. Cheers Mate 🍻

You nailed it!! This is not so much a “song” as it is a performance piece. And it IS art. Ren does sing, and you will notice that he often does have a “ reggae “ inflection in many of his songs. This was filmed before he went to Calgary for medical treatment for his undiagnosed/ misdiagnosed Lyme disease ( which went on for nearly 10 years) and that left him with a slew of chronic neurological and physical problems. He only recently returned back home ( Brighton UK) last month. Ren is many things: a multi instrumentalist ( guitar, bass, piano, drums, melodica), a singer and songwriter and perhaps one of the most genuine and generous artists who champions other artists every chance he gets. You will discover his brilliance and , along the way, some incredible musicians that he has collaborated with as well as his band he was in up until he left for Calgary called “The Big Push” . Go with any of the songs recommended by my fellow renegades. ❤

Ren is a perfectionist, every thing he does is like a piece of art. He's a beast at the guitar. Self tough. Also at the piano. He plays several instruments and are a born artist and a leader. I've never heard an artist like him before in my entire life. It's easier to ask what he can't do then what he can do. Besides that, he's a genuinely nice guy, so honest and caring for others. And he's a great story teller. He puts his heart out in every thing that he does. Excellent reaction, I'm very glad you listened to Ren, he is one of my favorite artists. He tends to rap a lot, but when he sings he steals the stage let me recommend some songs where Ren sings: chalk outlines how to be me crutch ft. bibi freckeld angels These songs have a live version, but I recommend listening to the studio version

Renegade here.. sub for your ride with Ren. You can’t pin him to a genre.. but he sings, raps, duets (with several excellent singers) - and he plays with a band (The Big Push)… 3 other extremely talented young men! Many of us will be along for your experience! Great reaction of our Ren, thank-you!

Thank you for a very enjoyable reaction. I’m a first time viewer of your channel and I love your focus on the singing aspect of Ren’s music. Ren often mixes singing and rap, it’s one of the things that I love about his music. I have subscribed and look forward to watching more of your music reactions.

We love your "first listen". No better way to react! Love your reaction! Please react to Ren and Chinchilla (and also Chinchilla by herself). Also, if you never heard of Yebba, she is fire, try her Tiny desk concert.

welcome to the rabbit hole that is REN. He is very diverse in his catalog of songs ranging from Rap to Singing and a good number of spoken word pieces. Ren is extremely talented. Hope you continue down the rabbit hole. If your main thing is an analysis of vocal abilities I would highly recommend checking out duets with Chinchilla, How To be Me and Chauk Outlines,. You want the live versions of those videos. Subbed

In an interview Ren said that Hi Ren was a one take, the third take they did. They didn't have permission to be in the basement they were in, and they had 4 cameras and two mics. As they were finishing the second take, the building manager walked in and asked them to leave. They begged for another 30 minutes and that was the take they used. However, the very end part when he turns from putting down the guitar and starts talking is a separate take. They were allowed to go back when the building manager helped them submit the correct paperwork. Post production was them just taking footage from the various cameras they had set up to auto record. He's done quite a few single takes, both storytelling and singing solo / duo. 7 months ago he (and Samuel, the cinematographer) won a couple of international music awards for best song video for Money Game III which was two takes (due to technical difficulties). Money game 1 was a single take - but that one took 183 tries over 3 days.

Agreed that this is performance art and it still blows me away that it's just one guy in a room with a guitar. Appreciate the reaction!

Jenny & Screech trilogy is hard but amazing story telling. Su*c*de is heartbreaking but utterly captivating. Sickboi is an amazing tale of current society. Ren is an amazing musician/bard/writer/performer/actor and a massive vulnerable and honest human being. The world needs so many more Ren's. Ren is a rabbithole of amazing music and stories

Wow, great reaction and analysis! Would love for you to do more Ren!! You are right, he's got lots of reggae feeling both in his music and his voice. He has such an interesting voice and can sing MANY different styles. My favourite singing from Ren is the song "Diazepam"

Welcome to the wonderful world of REN, our lyrical genius and beautiful soul. Fred again mashup and Wade in the water with the band he’s in called The Big Push are some of my favorite singing songs. His older music on the Demo tapes and Freckled Angel album are fantastic even with some sad ones. Good reaction and subbed for more Ren.

You need to check out Prof. Literally one of the most talented artists most people haven't heard of. Spellbound, Tombstones, and Squad Goals will show you his vocal talents. Flower Boy will break your heart and reveal his traumas.
