A quick video to show you how I repaired the electric boot switch, and replace the faulty internal microswitch.
Once you have the panel removed, exposing the back of this switch, it is very easy to test if the switch is working or not. If your switch is working, then it is a physical problem with the cam on the boot handle not pressing the switch hard enough. There are plenty of videos on youtube offering suggestions how to fix that.
If your microswitch is faulty, this method will save you quite a bit of money, and isn't very hard. The micro switch I used are available on ebay for pence, and the only other things you will need are:
A short length of cable.
Solder & soldering iron.
A drill.
Hot glue gun
Crimp connectors if you don't want to cut the plug off.
Remove the door handle. Remove the face plate. Make a note of how far the existing micro switch protrudes from the casing.
Turn the housing over, and drift the two contacts back through the plastic, and remove the remains of the switch from inside.
Drill the hole to accept the cable you're going to use.
Solder the cable to the microswitch, and then feed the cable through the hole you have enlarged with the drill.
Put a blob of hot glue in the hole where the existing switch was, and move it into place before the glue sets. When you're happy it's in the right position, fix it in with a bit more glue.
Make your connections to the plug by using the little crimp connectors like I did, or cut the plug off, and connect directly to the two wires.
It doesn't matter which way around you connect them, the switch only shorts them out. Test to see if the switch works.
Replace the boot latch cover, and refit the mechanism into the boot.
Hope it works for you?
