Great video and a cracking boat. She's in excellent condition. Mylor is one of my favourite areas for boating. Well done Jason.

@@anotherangleUK thanks.. I was lucky to receive this boat in an already great condition. From Mylor upto Truro is a great place for a boat. I’d happily be based in that area.

Mouseholes is lovely. I was on an original Bristol Channel Pilot cutter last year and we stopped off here and spent some time in the pub before heading on around to Padstow.. lovely part of the world for sailing. 🦈⚓️🦈⚓️

@@PillSharks it’s a lovely place for sure. Not enough time for me to go North Cornwall. That’s for another year. It’s back to the East for now.

@@jasonjoyce4487 well if you ever make it around and into the Bristol Channel I’m sure we can find you a free mooring for a few weeks in Pill, Somerset! Still a couple of boozers open ⚓️🦈🍺.

Another great video. Keep 'em coming. How far off the coast were the pots?
@jasonjoyce4487
Ай бұрын
Out to 2 miles, it’s a mine field. But some of the larger commercial boys leave the pots out much further. I regularly see the marker floats being dragged under by the tide and resurfacing shirt while later. It’s put me off sailing these waters at night. Closer to shore, the more you see.

Very good. We have a 5m long Winkle brig, very similar, and hope to cruise the same area. I think Spring tides give rougher water, that is why it is different.
@jasonjoyce4487
Ай бұрын
Exactly right, the springs do cause a swell, especially when it’s wind over tide. Further exaggerated around headlands and changes to depth. You’ll love the journey and I endorse anyone that wants to do it. I’ve never been to Cornwall so all of this is new and exciting for me. If you go Scilly,, Old Grimsby Harbour was my favourite anchorage. Well worth a visit.

@@paulwilliams3494 thanks for the compliment. I use paper charts, hand bearing and bulkhead compass, and a handheld garmin 72H as my main source of navigation. I recently got hold of a 2nd hand Samsung tablet with all the charts loaded on it. It works, but I don’t like the way it keeps swapping from one chart to another changing the zoom size with it. I’ll keep it as back up, but I prefer my old method.

Another great video. Very impressed with how your small boat takes you on big adventures. What size is your outboard and how much fuel does do think it burns per hour?
@jasonjoyce4487
Ай бұрын
@@calmwatersailor1947 I’ve had issues with the Selva 6hp that’s meant for this boat. I’ve had to swap it for my 9.9hp Yamaha to finish this journey. It’s using about 2ltrs an hour at 25% throttle. This puts me at 5knots. I don’t think the bracket will take much more thrust. It’s too heavy for this boat, but it’s getting the job done. The 6hp was better and far more economical and will be replaced. Both are short shaft.

is it possible to get rid of the black bars on top and bottom? i don't mind the aspect ratio, but black bars are annoying also music is a bit louder than your speech and without easing it in is prone to startle or you could just make it a bit quieter googled this In the broadcast world, most channels recommend a max volume of -12 dB; everything you watch on the TV is set to these levels. For this reason, audio at -12 dB sounds normal. On the web, virtually all producers target 0 dB, and web viewers are used to this higher volume. like the tea segment but its generally not a good idea to set cameraangled directly at the sky light. i cant say enought nice words about the interior of your boat, clean and cosy, by the way is the lining slighly reflective? good content
@jasonjoyce4487

@@pironiero I’m still learning to compose these videos. The ratio is set to 7:8 on the camera and volume on the editor I’ve decreased to 90%. I’m going to drop it further to 75 and see if that improves. I know nothing about camera settings so kind of wobbling my way along. Nothing is scripted, Which may help the content if I actually planned it! I’ve had issues with buffering as I’m editing remotely and internet is not strong. So I don’t actually see the finished article in its entirety until it’s uploaded. Then think “oh dear” haha.. But thank you for the feedback- I will work on improving these issues and rid the black bars once I’ve worked out was causing them? I also prefer a full screen view.
