@Czeromedia so there are definitely a few things that you seemed to forget. ¹. The upper bracket that the Alt bolts up to needs to be loosened up by the 10 or 12mm bolt that is halfway behind the water pump pulley up top. W/o this bracket bent down, there's no way in hell the Alt is coming out. ². The ABS unit needs to be unbolted in 3 places so it can be pushed back. (You gain a good 2in by doing this) You don't show how u pulled it out, but I looked real hard at ur vid and it doesn't even look like u have that upper bracket attached. Makes a huge difference. After I moved the bracket and the ABS unit, I had the damn thing out in 2 minutes!

I would like to share some insight on this method of changing out your alternator. I did this method on my 2006 Evo 9 MR, while I’m sure this method is “easy” I’d like to point out that on CZero’s car he has no AC lines. My car still has AC so what I had to do in order for me to remove my alternator I had to remove the alternator bracket of coarse, idk what the sensor is called but it’s the one on the left side of the intake manifold that is held by 2 10mm bolts, remove bolt from dip stick for added play, remove bracket from abs module, and when the alternator is on it’s way out you have to push the abs module towards he firewall to get it out. Also, there is a sensor on the back of the head that I had to disconnect and had to be careful not breaking the sensor. So to keep it simple, if you’re not running AC lines in your Evo (or if it’s an RS model) do this method, if you have AC lines and ABS I’d suggest doing it from the bottom, I would have just rather bought a new cb shaft seal than go through the trouble again. Hope this helps someone

Thanx for replying. I took the car to an Electrical Car Shop that's looking into it right. Now. I did put a volt meter to see if there was any Parasitic Draw and there was. So hopefully today they figure out what's wrong. But ill let them know in regards to the wiring.

I can confirm this is the easiest way by far but you don't have to remove the shock/coilover if you use bungees to hang the alternator from. Anyway nice video man!

My 1G DSM has given me enough electrical trouble over the years that I often plug it into a battery tender overnight. If the alternator starts to go out again, at least it will (probably) have enough charge to get me to work and back. You could say it's an electric+4G63 hybrid car now. Kinda.

At least you don't have to deal with the CT9A *_Electrical Gremlin Takeover!_* Water finds its way into the harness in the driver side wheel well, then gets through the grommet & runs down the harness to where all the wires/connectors connect in a little plastic shelf/housing and then over time goes to work on about 20 different accessories! At one point I couldn't turn my Evo 8 off even if I disconnected the battery! I had to pop the clutch with the e-brake on. The only fix really is to cut out all the connectors & hard wire them, unless of course u source another harness and splice in new connectors. This is what I thought was happening again when I saw both battery & brake lights on @ the same time. Electrical Gremlins are w/o a doubt *The Worst!*

can also unplug the battery when it is running. if the headlights dim then you will know right away if its the alternators on its way out or not, haha. I have an evo 6 and ironically I'm having this same problem today. so thanks for the video. will help a lot when I swap alternators. do you know if all evo 4g63 alternators are the same? as finding an evo 6 specific alternator is a little tricky.

Brethren. I own an Evo 8, 04. Alternator dead. Unbolted it. Jacked the engine as far as the serpentine belt tensioner would allow as it will only go up so far before hitting frame. The bracket that the alternator is connected to, has the one bolt behind the tensioner pulley. Did you remove the timing belt/cam gear cover, to get to that and spin the bracket up? I tried going down but that still was in the way. Long story short, I honestly do not see how you managed to squeeze a OEM sized alternator through that space. In other words, HALP!
