After defecting, he spent a few years, and in the late 1970's, Yuri got a job as a computer scientist in Silicon Valley. Got married and had a child. Got his pilots license. After the Berlin Wall fell Yuri returned to Russia. He found out that Russia didn't even bother to contact him or put any pressure on his parents. He had become a non-person in their eyes, later on he took his own life. - These are the para-phrased words of the CIA officer that handled him after his defection.
