My irons are 1/2 inch long and 2 degrees upright. Should I do the same with my wedges?

I love these 'lessons' thanks BBG! Going to watch all your work with Parker! Wow I have clearly been woefully ignorant of what is a poor lie and bulldozing my 60 through everything!!

Music is distracting at the start and makes the end of the video inaudible.

I would be curious to know how Parkers short game philosophy differs from Stan Utley. I'm a Stan disciple on pitching with a touch of my own stuff from Phil Mickelson. I don't think there's really an absolute right way just multiple ways to get the same result. The more open minded we are the more creative you can be. I have a shot I call the cutter, it comes out high and spins right when it lands but I'm square to the ball and target line but you would think I'm flipping my hands or something to get the height. I'm not it's just a feel thing. I saw those flight lines on the wedge works website a few months ago when I was looking at wedges. I opted for just the standard stuff, with a higher bounce on my lob and sand wedge. So far loving my new SM9's.

@industrialpalletworx3548 In another video Parker talks about the impact course conditions have had on technique and talks about Nicklaus having a wedge with 17* of bounce, he said that worked well when the fairways had longer grass but on today's PGA tight fairways that amount of bounce would be a disaster and players are using really low loft of bounce to match, Utley had a great technique for the conditions he played in but fairways are tighter now and that is where you now see players chipping with much less wrist cock and a longer rear arm in the backswing , Utley had more wrist cock and elbow bend for his standard chip than what Parker teaches but green side conditions have changed and . technique has evolved around it. Both teachers taught great technique for the conditions they played in but conditions have changed.

@johnhue8933 the 17* of bounce is absurd by today's standards. However, I would argue that players today still use high bounce wedges. Especially sand wedges. Fewer players use high bounce 60* wedges because of the firmer tight conditions. It's more because the ground is hard than tight. It's reported every year before The Open Championship about players switching wedges to low bounce versions because of how firm and tight. You are correct in the assessment of Utley versus Parker in technique. I'm more of an Utley technique but do listen to Parker. I think the biggest similarity between the 2 is pivot is essential. No pivot equals poor contact

@@industrialpalletworx3548 I had a good Utley based chipping technique but have been working on the Parker McLachlin minimal wrist cock backswing and long rear arm, It felt very strange and robotic at first but I have started getting good at it and on really tight lies it works better than the Utley technique, my plan is to get good at both and switch according to the lie. Both techniques use the pivot but it is a more dominant aggressive torso turn motion in the Parker McLachlin technique because the torso turn is doing more work as there is less wrist action..

Hi, great content. Does Parker have any thoughts on bounce for wedges?

When you open the club face, how do you avoid hitting the ball right of target? Do you just set up left of target?
