I had a stroke about 4 years ago and had to learn to walk and talk again. Thank the good Lord that I’m finally starting to feel like myself. Family was always important but as I approach my 60s family and after this past year dealing with this pandemic, family and friendships are even more important. Materialistic things are really not important. My goal this year is to donate half of my possessions to charity and let my things bless others. Thank you,Sandra, for being a blessing ❤️!

I have never felt more contented as I turn 80. This seems to make the type of people I want to meet attracted to me. It is a new and beautiful phase. I have nature in my life and I have taken up sewing which is challenging. I learned about Ken Burns and am watching all the amazing films he has made in chronological order. Also I am reading all Shirley MacLaine's books in chronological order. I hope I have a lot more time to enjoy this life. I have never felt closer to my children who do not live nearby, but I have a more deep communication. Your messages are always valuable.

The most amazing people I ever saw were in the Fiji villages and in the Atlas villages in North Africa. I’ve never seen such happiness ever again! I’ve lived throughout the world. I wondered what do those two areas have in common! Two spots on opposite sides of the world. 1/ financial poverty 2/ a sense of awe for everyone and everything. 3/ generosity beyond comprehension. 4/ love of people. 5/ open hearts 6./ smiles all the time! 7/ sense of community that completely accepts them exactly as they are without a shadow of a doubt that they are loved, rich and safe! 8/ no electricity: live in homes built from earth. Have rituals. Wake up with the sun ☀️

In the Spanish speaking cultures, the phrase, ‘estoy contenta’ (Iam content) is used often. I have incorporated this phrase into my English language because it clearly states my frame of mind. Presently our USA culture uses the phrase, ‘Iam good’. I translate that to, ‘Iam content’. Contentment is a peaceful place to be.

Sandra thank you for your thoughts. I lost my husband of 50 years just months before lockdown, so it’s been difficult. But I can truly say I am content, grateful to still be alive after serious illness myself, thankful for family and friends. Thankful to have loved my husband since I was 15. I’ve taken over the garden since my husband passed and I’m surprised and delighted to be loving it, even on the cold days we have here in Scotland. I cook and bake and give it to neighbours, it gives me a purpose. And while still grieving I can say that God has been good and faithful to me. Thank you for sharing ❤️

Good morning, Sandra: At this point in my life, I have concluded that love is everything. Not money or material possessions that come and go, but, a true and lasting love. Yes, family and self-identity are part of contentment...I admire cultures where the elders are revered. Of course, nowadays, this is often not the case. We do come into the world alone, and leave it alone; however, to have someone special with whom to share the aging journey is truly the greatest gift we can ever receive, IMHO. I knew contentment and happiness in my own life, but, that was many years ago. It does come from within, but, that is difficult when there is a void. Thank you for yet another wonderful topic and video. Many blessings to you and Arthur. Rosemarie 💖

Hi Sandra! How are you today? You’re looking wonderful.....Sadly! I’m from a culture where family is not a huge deal for some, a brother or sister can pass you in the streets without even acknowledging you and feels no way about it, as for human warmth there’s not a lot of that either, there are 7 billion people in the world and yet soo many lonely people, making friends is not always easy because folks have so many conditions in place in order for them to accept you as a friend.....I’m an Introvert , I’m also an Empath, so I benefit from keeping my distance, I love all people, I help where and when I can, I’m content and I’m so so grateful for life💐🌸🌺🌹

Sandra - my daughter was pregnant with identical twins five years ago. Our families - both sides - have no history of twins, so to say we all were surprised is an understatement. Unfortunately, she ended up with a very, very scary pregnancy with many complications. In fact, she & her babies are written up in an OB/Gyn medical journal article. She had 2 in utero surgeries that have never been performed before. My daughter was deathly ill (pneumonia) & the twins were born extremely premature. We had people praying from all over the world - Christians, Jewish, Islamist, Hindi. God heard our prayers - my little Avery & Aria are turning five next month and are pure joy. Nothing else matters after an experience like that. My daughter & granddaughters taught me life is all that matters, really. To have God answer a prayer, knowing some do not get the answer they want so badly, meant so much to me. I am forever grateful. Content too.💕

I'm seventy-four. My husband died decades ago. My children recently abandoned me. I had a bout with a grief that put me in bed with chronic pain and fatigue. I got up. I found a new living environment with subsidized housing for independent seniors. Doesn't sound very glamorous does it? Was I ever surprised to find out that I have a pretty and modern apartment with a stunning view, and big windows. I live with a community of seniors all having something in common. We have our fascinating stories. We have jokes to share. We all have faces and we are no longer invisible. There are many activities waiting for us when the covid crisis ends. There are outdoor activities that we can do right now. We live on the edge of a protected area called "Clear Chrystal Creek" and the creek runs right under my window, replete with river otter, ducks, and the Canada geese who have come to spend the winter here and have their gosslings. I saw a beaver about two weeks ago while on my daily walk. What I thought was going to be a prelude to death, turned out to be a reassuring and secure part of my life that I am becoming more and more attuned with. I think I have had to start my life all over again. It just might work. Sandra Hart, you are such a blessing to me. I've had a pretty nuts and bolts life and now I come to your youtube vlogs for advice on daily living, coping skills that work, and also glamour. You make life look and sound so glamorous, inside and out. I use your tips on makeup and clothing. But most of all I find support and encourgement here. Thank You so much for your work.

The apostle Paul said 'I have learned to be content in whatever state I'm in' -- paraphrasing from my old-brain memory. Paul was imprisoned for declaring the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was tortured and afflicted with a 'thorn in the flesh'. Yet his IDENTITY in Christ empowered him, kept and preserved him and caused him to press on in spite of life circumstances. Contentment is quite different from happiness! Happiness consists of fleeting moments. The true Christian is selfLESS, and serves others for God's glory, not his own vain glory. He serves out of THANKFULNESS to God for His tender mercy in forgiving his sins. Contentment and its greater gift - JOY -- is deeply abounding, and it can be eternal through the mercy of my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. Even though family, humanity, etc. can give us happiness and a sense of belonging, man can never fill the heart's void deep down. OK, I'll get off my soapbox here. Just wanted to share what I've learned in my 64 years on this earth. Love you, Sandra, and your beautiful, insightful thoughts and videos!!!

As Rock Star Mom says, be kind. I find compassion to be a strong point in my life. Empathy for animals brings me joy. Often more than people. Travel 🧳 brings me great pleasure. I enjoy seeing the sights, tasting the foods. I take care of my home bound friend and it is quite the challenge. I manage everything for him including 2 caretakers. Often I am exhausted but I push on. I love to share produce I pick up at the farmland about 10 miles from me. Yesterday I took 12 tomatoes, 5 yellow squash and a bag of onions 🧅 to a friend who in turn gave me 3 fresh ears of corn. I will make a big pot of fresh spaghetti sauce and have it in my freezer. The onions will be a great touch in any food. As for the yellow squash I cut up into small chunks and had a nice vegetable dish last evening. Words of wisdom and this video was appreciated. 😎💄❤️Kathy 😷

I feel very content. It wasn't an easy life for me at times and when my husband left me with the children for another woman 14 years older than he was, I looked for a man to make my family. It took a while but I eventually realised I have my family without the need for any man! This gave me a lot of contentment! I am free to be me. Who knows maybe my soulmate is out there but he can come find me. I am quite fine just as I am lol! Great video Sandra as always! Tc much love KX

I have to tell you Kathleen that you have the right attitude. We have to be content with ourselves and embrace and love ourselves. That is the most important thing we can do for us and our children. We are whole and can survive and be happy with ‘us’. If our soulmates come along wonderful, but if not we can’t wait for life to pass us by. ❤️

For me, I feel most content and happy when I think about and remember all that I have to be grateful for. When I forget to do this and I slip into the mindset of lack (I wish I had this, I wish I could do that, etc.) I begin to feel discontent. So it takes me recognizing that I’m having negative thoughts and I have to actively turn those thoughts towards gratitude 🙏🏽 💜🌻🌞 Then I feel happier and content again 😊

Good morning Sandra. Such a nice way to wake up, reading and watching this video. It really made me think and I do realize how content I am. My three sons and I bought an old Victorian Farm house 5 and a half years ago. We all live here, and coudn't be more content. Yes, there is a lot to be done, and we say almost daily how blessed we are to have this place. We can (and do) have many animals......we do a small cat rescue as we have the wonderful barn for them. When we first moved here there were so many sick, hungry and pregnant cats..........now, there is only one we see who doesn't belong to our colony. ( Don't worry, we'll catch him) :-) We catch them, take them and have them spayed or neutered and get their shots. They were supposed to go off on their own, but it hasn't ecxactly worked that way. They love it here as we do! Anyway, although money is tight, the love of family, friends and fur friends, as well as the three acres for the deer and others in the back makes is so worth while! So, in my world, family, friends, and the ability to help these little fur babies make it all so wonderful. Thank you for this video. Have a wonderful day! xoxo

Contentment number one for me is liking ùr self...i spent too many years as a child & than as a youngster disliking myself (painfully shy..too thin etc) but when we get into our 40's we start to come into our own (& start putting on a little weight!) & as our character is now more or less developed & let's say a shy gene has more or less disappeared I think that's when u start to REALLY like u'r self😊 The next is a hobby u really enjoy.. & look forward to getting back to each day.. As I'm a bit of a chilled person knitting & watching a good film (or listening to u'r good self!) Makes me feel content! But having u'r grown children's every mood & problem in u'r face at our age to my mind doesn't go hand in hand with being content!! I have 5 children of which 3 of them have my mother's closed book gene (not healthy at all to keep things bottled up I agree) so they don't tell me EVERYTHING so I only know about the good stuff!!😁 But 2 of my adlut children are an open book like myself so I know every depression & mess they've got themselves into & that's not good in terms of my mental state & contentment (which I strive on a daily basis to attain!) & one of these two lives just up the road from us so I'm actually witnessing the depression/mess full on & first hand!! The worry & anxiety on their behalf is deffinely interfering with my Contentment!! Of course I would never tell them this because I love them far too much & if I'm their sounding board than so be it! (I do give out good advise & am very wise it has to be said😊) & contentment is all the things u pointed out in this video..i enjoyed listening as I knitt away (the bed jacket is coming along nicely by the way!😁 -- watching from malta😎

Such beautiful thoughts thank you for sharing. I am both happy and content. I love working in my garden, trying new recipes and participating in volunteer activities, going to fairs, shows and festivals, being a fan at my grands soccer/softball/baseball games and exploring by myself or with friends. I have come to this point by trying to be the happiest woman in my town. It takes work everyday by turning down invitations to pity parties, editing negative people from my life, wearing better fitting and colorful clothing, paying attention to grooming and setting 3 goals each day for myself. I challenge you, Reader, to choose being a happy older woman over being a nasty, miserable older woman.!

Wise people, and it is not me, say that you start working on your positive energy when there is no crisis in your life. It takes time to create rutine when you take care of your mind, body, and spirit. But when the next crisis comes, and they do come, you will be stronger. On the surface, there will be a storm, but deep inside, you will feel calmness. ❤

I feel contented in my life, I love my family and they live nearby, I have hobbies and I walk in nature every day. My husband is the opposite, he always seems to be searching for something more in life. He doesn’t have any close friends, he’s not close to his adult children or grandchildren. I feel for him, he doesn’t have contentment in his life, maybe due to his military background and lack of community in his life, moving so often

Wonderful topic. I was just teaching a class last night talking about how being open to connecting, engaging and sharing is crucial to not only feeling good but also life will respond back to you in a connected, engaging and sharing way. Covid has been detrimental to us as a human race. I lead spiritual journeys around the world and I’ve missed all the blessings and growth not being able to for a year now. I retired just at the beginning of covid and my goal was to start traveling for pleasure again (my work did entail a lot of traveling at times, but it was always rushed). Well that didn’t happen, although I was thus able to settle nicely in my new home and garden. I don’t think I’m of the contented sort though, always looking for more, but I recognise that I’ve had a good life despite a few hard bumps between 45 and 60. Life is to be enjoyed, even in the littlest things, but there are so many people around me who seem to think that life has to be hard, especially as they grow older. This makes me even less keen to socialise. I have friends all over the world, family I adore not too far, but no close relationships. That’s life!

Thankyou for the lovely video, interesting as always. I was never in lockdown being in Perth, the most isolated city in the world, there was no difference to our daily lives. Everything else is true, especially if you've lucky enough to have good relatives. My mother is still toxic in old age, it will be a release for everyone when she goes. I have lost touch with friends met while travelling in earlier life, no email or internet then. I would give anything to see them again. I also lost touch with an American boyfriend I met in Perth. Can only wonder how it might have turned out. Every friend makes a mark on our lives and is precious. I can't say I'm contented but will feel happy to travel to Singapore soon, to be in a happier place after so long with dealing with my mother and having travel restrictions. Dixie (Aus)

What a good chat Sandra, thank you and I loved your pictures. And thank you to those who've shared their thoughts, pain, loss and experiences. I see happiness as being dependant upon circumstances and contentment more about a deeper joy that comes from peace, hope and acceptance. Your points are so very valid. Through covid we can see clearly the lack of connection, brokenness in relationships due to distance and the need for family whether related by blood or not we are all part of the human race. I find my greatest peace outside listening to the stream flow and thanking my God. Whether watching birds or petting a fur baby we get some connection to the gift of creation. Yes the sense of identity and ability to work, give or do for someone sparks life. Music is a big part of the gifts we are given. I recall the lyrics you shared from Joni Mitchell, yes! I too miss travel as there are places I'd like to revisit just in my memories for now. I seek greater contentment a day at a time and grateful His grace is sufficient. Be blessed!

I gave my neighbor Danny a Big Hug yesterday for helping me repair a broken water pipe down at the barn because he wouldn't accept any money! I'm going to bake him a cake today. His young wife and the mother of his 3 children had a near fatal car wreck almost 20 years ago while just in the prime of their young adult lives. Michael will graduate this year and is 18 and has grown up without his mother being at home. She lives in a nursing home and is wheel chair bound and can barely speak and can't take care of herself at all. So sad. Danny stops by to see her everyday on his way home from work and picks her up and brings her home on the weekends. He owns his own AC/Heater business and he works tirelessly. My heart goes out to him everyday when I see him and his big work truck pass by my farm. I've taken holiday foods and treats down to them over the years and I really appreciate him being such a good neighbor and friend. Michael has grown up to be a fine young man and has mowed my pastures for me many times over the years. He will be leaving for college soon as his older sisters did as well. I'm content with my life today and I'm very happy! I didn't stay locked down and I didn't wear a mask ever. I have my horses cats and little dog Rico to keep me company here on the farm. I feel so sorry for all the people here in America and around the world because they fell for the lies told to them by the media and fake doctors and Big Pharma. This pandemic was only to scare people into submission and to control them. I have seen just how easy that was to do to millions around the world. For that I feel tremendous sadness in my heart for our entire world, especially the little children. All the old people who are locked up in their homes living in fear and who are in nursing homes who can't hold anyone's hand or their own family can't come in to just sit with them and give them a hug. I feel tremendous sadness in my heart today. I'm happy and content that I'm not living my life in fear because I don't believe a word they've been saying about this "PANDEMIC" and I'm also very sad for our entire world. People please wake up and realize the truth about this "planned-demic". Good day to you all and I wish you peace and happiness. Thank you for sharing your beautiful pictures from around the world...Sandra..From a time when people were free from fear and worry and didn't feel stuck at home and lonely and isolated. That is no way to live. Be free and be happy people and don't be afraid to live love and laugh. Show your smiles, breathe freely, and take the damn masks off. They don't do a thing to protect you from a virus that has a 99.5 percent survival rate when treated early and for healthy individuals and with natural remedies or some medications that we already have like hydroxy chloroquine, ivermectin, zinc, and vitamin D, eating healthy, taking all kinds of herbs and getting natural vitamin D.. Sunshine and fresh air! Have a nice day y'all and don't be afraid to get out and live your lives without fear, don't worry be happy!

Annette, what a wonderful story on both your part in being so kind and having empathy for others and also to Danny for his compassion and love for his wife and family. What a wonderful testimony of loyalty and doing the right thing for others with love. ❤️
