The dripping is almost as much of a "religion" on the XK8 as your cautionary tale regarding flat batteries & electrical faults! Another great episode

Hi John, another place that retains water, which is very bad for your electrics, is the plastic box for your ecu's. It is situated under the front scuttle and has a cover which is secured by 4 antitamper boots, which you can undo, but worth checking as on my XK8 it was half full with water which is very bad for the ecu's housed inside there. Well worth checking and drilling a couple of drain holes Norm

Hi John. Great video as ever. One of the first things I bought after buying the XK8 itself was a portable dehumidifier to keep rust away. It keeps the relative humidity between 45 and 50 %. No condensation ever, and the car dries faster after a wet drive. Wasn’t even expensive. And the added bonus is that my wife has distilled water for her iron for free. 😂 PS: I was sooo much waiting for you to put the two missing screws into that wobbling windlet.

incredible content here John. I just spent 4 hours on a door panel remove video on the XjR and I have no space to download.. UUGG, anyway,, this is incredible info you just shared. I do not think there is a tray like that in the X308, I am going to do some research. You my friend keep me on my toes..LOL

Mitch Grooms Thanks as always Mitch No I don’t think that the x308 has that tray? The wheels on your car are a lot closer to the front of the car than on the xk8. I film most things on my phone and then air drop the straight to my MacBook so down loading is not Mitch on an issue. Admittedly my phone is a decent camera iphoneX But I rarely find the need for much else except a go pro when I attach it to the outside of the car. Look forward to your video. Got to take mine off soon to examine speakers. John👍

Hi John. Washer fluid in Alberta has to be rated -30c this time of year or it will freeze and crack the reservoir or in the lines. Then in the summer we get a summer rated fluid. Need to buy shares in this!! Nice video simple fixes and mods. Thank you for the time you spend making these. BTW its -20c here this week.

Hi John, Good info as always. Do I see a small hole on the passenger side exhaust pipe, forward of the condensation drip(1.50) ?

Hi Harry. Thanks very much. I checked 1.50 and I think its a shadow from the weld but I now need to go look😁. I do have a very small blow but as I intend to change the exhaust in the near future, 'm trying to ignore it😔

John, big fan here. I have a question a bit out of context sorry about that I have an cooling expansion tank with the pink floater going up and down a shaft in the tank. On the shaft there's a stopper at mid height. Does that mean it's the maximum level for the coolant fluid? The floater won't go higher so I filled the coolant to just cover that floater. I have an 04 xkr. Thanks

He Alexander. The tank you are referring to is I take it the black one under the bonnet? (I know it sounds like an odd question) If so, then you should fill it to the base of its neck. ie pretty much full to the top. The 'atmospheric recovery tank' is sited in the back of the Right front wheel arch and excess fluid from the black tank is pushed to there when it expands and then drawn back when the engine cools and should maintain the level just below the cap.

After I replaced the batter in my 2002 XKR, the backup sensors seem to be messed up. They come on and stay on while backing whether there is something close or not. Any way to program them? Thanks, Mike

Hi Michael. Unfortunately I don't have reverse sensors on my Cat so its not something I can advise on with any Authority. How about the rest of the subscribers though? Has anyone got some sage advice for Michael?

My 2000 XK8 is dripping water under the car after every run (heater on / no air con). The dripping is under the driver seat (lhd) and its water ... not coolant. I topped up my coolant reservoir and no loss. Any idea what it could be ? Thanks

Hi Dom. Obviously hard to be certain from here, but almost certainly still the Air con drain pipe. Even when the aircon is not running, the gas in it makes its internal pipework cool and the exhaust heat rises in the transmission tunnel. inevitably causing condensation. You might try clearing the zircon drain pipe as if it gets semi blocked it appears to dump more water than is reasonable as the whole journeys water drainage comes out while the car is stationary rather than the majority being dropped on the road.

Your top pipe is aftermarket. Should be straight on XJ8. Maybe the top connection isn’t correct either.

More than possible Andy as the top pipe really is rubbish. However as mine is one of the first 1000 cars, it’s also possible I have some pre production bits in this area. Do you have any hose clips on yours or just pushed on? Mine Defo had lockwire originally (a sure sign of pre production make do)
