Sanjay Dixit discusses with Abhijit Iyer Mitra the elaborate hoax of 'Mughals were 'secular'. The Mughal Emperor was called Amir-ul-Islam, the Army was called Lashkar-i-Islam, and the Chief theologian was called the 'Sheikh-ul-Islam. Yet, some faux historians insist that Mughals were secualrs only because some of them did not impose Jizya on Hindus. It is like saying that because Qatar and Saudi Arabia do not impose Jizya on foreigners' income within their countries, they are secular.
