No safes are protection against LE with a warrant. Period. End of sentence. Five minutes. This guy is an opportunistic ass talking out of the side of his mouth. No safes are protection against anyone with the proper tools (readily available from Home Depot) if they have the space, time, and privacy to use them. Too small of a safe and a burg can just remove it from the property, too big and it's easy to find and easier to manipulate. First. Get a reliable safe that will open for you when you want it to. Second. It needs to have a high fire rating. Third. Either bolt it to concrete or conceal it and bolt it down. Fourth. Don't. Absolutely DON'T, put it in your garage. That's like a drive-tnru window as far as burglars go. Fifth. Remember that no house is burglar proof, but get security systems set up anyway. As cold as it sounds, the whole purpose of a security system is to make burglars go to your neighbors. If your whole neighborhood is vigilant, burgs go to different neighborhoods.

The links you shared are to change the default code or reset to default. What Liberty shared with the FBI was the back door code the manufacture stores in the event a customer loses or forgets the code. If you have a way to change that code, please share.

I couldn't find how to change the secret code in either video. That's the code that I want to know how to change otherwise the safe is worthless.

Back door code can not be changed... however if you remove all the serial numbers from the safe and from the keypad (check under the cover where the batteries go as well) then there is no way to retrieve the back door code. Back door code is 100% linked to serial number only. No serial number, no code!

The problem wasn't keeping an access code, the problem was giving it up to the Feds without any proper court order.
@baddos1

No, the customers didn't even know they had an access code. It's said six ways from Sunday in their instructions that once your change your code that is it which is a lie. Then they give this code to the government upon request.

I beg to differ. I would not consider my gun safe “secure” if someone else has an access code to it. That’s not a “safe”. Don’t buy anything you don’t have complete control over.

I agree and then they come out with some BS excuse "Well, they had a piece of paper". A real company concerned about their customers and their rights wouldn't have handed over the code without a major legal battle. That tells you everything you need to know about this apparently "Woke" company.

I find it interesting that in watching many videos about this issue with Liberty Safes, nobody ever mentions that the FBI had a valid search warrant to access the safe. Not saying Liberty should have kept the codes, though some would argue that they did it so customers had a method of accessing if they lost the combo, but the feds would have just drilled the safe and destroyed it if the code was not available. Whether they should have been able to get that warrant is a separate issue, but the fact remains they would have accessed the safe either way.

How does a Liberty safe work and what is an "access code"? I assume a safe is designed to have a settable combination, with a common default, which a customer uses initially to open their safe and CHANGE to their own unique combination. At that point, the only person who knows the combination of a safe should be the owner. But it seems this is NOT how a Liberty safe works? So can someone please explain how it is that Liberty Safes has a database of "access codes"? What are they? A second combination that opens the safe, is not changeable, and only Liberty Safes knows the code? Please explain.

I was actively engaged in buying a Liberty Safe a week ago so glad I didn’t. They were under no obligation to give ANYONE access codes to customers safes. And their BS response to the outcry made it even worst. Say nothing about they have access codes to customers property is an outrage and a total break of trust..Liberty safes is now the Budlight of the safe industry. I will NEVER buy a liberty safe and neither should anyone else. I am going to switch to Secureit safes!
