Unfortunately all the major US knife brands are making alot of their stuff in China. Glad I've got mostly older Spyderco's and Benchmade's that were made in the USA. Case still makes mostly US pocket knives. Buck knives have gone to the dark side along with Gerber and CRKT. Kershaw makes a lot of quality value priced US knives But like all the other US brands you have to be careful which model you buy.

Ok, Cody. I've owned the Osborne for longer than I've been watching your channel. In fact, I've had it since 2005 or so. Like you, I love the aesthetics of the knife, the green color, the purple accent. And it was my carry knife for many, many years. NOW... I'd suggest another Benchmade that is worthy of your consideration. No, it doesn't have the reverse-tanto blade, but it is beautiful and useable. It's the new Benchmade carbon-scaled Bugout, Model No. CPM-590V. It is ultra-slim and is configured with a traditional drop-point and the expected (and appreciated) Axis lock system. It's strong, but, as a carry knife, it is incredibly light with carbon-fiber scales and gorgeous blue accents. I know you're not a pocket clip kind of guy (I respect that), but as pocket clips go, this one is a great, deep-pocket design, with the knife only minimally protruding above the pocket line. You really need to take a look at it. I suspect it WILL give you the fizz. As always, thanks much for sharing. Steve

My fixed blades are all Moras, except for one Normark that I keep for sentimental reasons because my Dad gave it to me when I was a kid. Totally get “having the fiz”. I carried a simple Opinel for years, but would now not be without my Leatherman Surge. I get it would not be for everyone owing to size and weight, but always having pliers, screwdriver, saw and of course a knife, always with me around my property, I miss it in hot weather when in shorts and not wearing trousers with a belt.

Yes, I would think a top quality multi-tool as an everyday carry item is WAY more useful than a single blade knife. Does Cody carry a multi-tool with him at all times?

I’ve carried my 940 4 years and have a brand new one in my junk drawer that I bought before the price increase. I have several Buck and Case knives as standbys but will probably never use them. 🇺🇸🇨🇦🇺🇸

Regarding Spyderco, I carried a Police Model with fully serrated blade for years as a Deputy. Carried it on my weak side. Intended use was to cut seat belts in auto collisions, and as a tool to cut someone loose from my sidearm if necessary. Still carry it years later though retired.

As a Third Coast Man, allow me to stress the importance of carrying a solid multitool. My Leatherman wave has served flawlessly for more than a decade in all types of austere conditions. To quote the Jedi Master who showed me the way, "Carry one for a week, you'll never be without it."

I’ve never found a good use for the leather man. A heavy pocket weight without much utility for me. I hear glowing things about them, but when I have one I just regret bothering to have the weight in my pocket

I got my 940 in 10th grade because of you and also have Bought some homewrecker’s. And every time I find my self going back to it. Now it’s been close to 5 years and I’m working 2 part time jobs. college full time and volunteering at my local fire department. I use that knife for all of it minus the college part. Also You have gotten me through so much and taught me so much about being a hard working man. I know I still have much to learn but Thank You for always being a person I can look up to. Thank you again and god bless you. Sincerely, a member of the East Coast.

Best video you have ever done! Great all around advice that can be applied to any topic. "JUST BE HAPPY WITH MY 940." "JUST BE HAPPY WITH MY "FILL-IN-THE-BLANK." BIGGER BETTER FASTER IS NOT ALWAYS THE BEST WAY TO GO.

I know you have your gripes with the benchmade bugout, but I think you would really enjoy it if you threw some titanium, copper, or brass scales on it from flytanium. I think this would solve your biggest complaint about it being too "breakable". But as the old saying goes, "if its not broken don't fix it", so I am glad to see you are still enjoying the 940. I carry a bugout everyday, but would love to get a 940 eventually. Keep up the great videos!

"My knife prints very bad," lol. I've had the same SOG for ten years now, no one has tempted me. My EDC is treasured and always feels just right. Sturdy and sharp AF, I love it. Edit: I'm super happy you came home to your er'day and found where you want to stay.

Funny how once you've found your knife it's nigh on impossible to part with no matter what brand or style or material they are made of. My EDC knife isn't even anything special it is a cheap (cost me I think £10 about 8 years ago) unbranded generic frame lock folder, but it's my workhorse knife it goes to work on site with me everyday plus all the jobs at home and when you are out and about its been used to pry tins open it strips cable all day every day (I'm an electrician) I've lifted floorboards with it dug out mortar, its get abused and I play with it all the time but it's sharp as anything and strong as an ox and I've yet to find any other knife that I'm happy to replace it with I've got several over the years but that one crappy knife always ends up in my pocket 😅 I feel naked without it

@@joefrayling9263 Yeah. I just bought my son a "much better" knife than mine. Some OTF knives tempt me from time to time, but I just can't make the switch to another blade.

You have reached the heights of wisdom for those of us who aspire to your greatness. Though only a professional semi-recreational home owner, (that's a level 1.5 on the pro scale!) I totally get the number one criteria for your favorite knife, lightening fast flipping and closing. Unfortunately this has been the cause of much contention with Mrs. Pro-semi-rec-homeowner. "Do you have your knife out again!" Might as well go back to an Old Timer.
