In R8V3 I do not have the popup for the cable options shown at 0:58 in the Standard Level but I had it in R8V2 Basic. How do I get the options back?

In the Cables settings (in Circuit Diagram IEC properties) there's an option for 'Exclude selection from defined cables'. Remove this and it should work as before.

@@IGEXAOUK My option for that "Exclude selection...." box is not checked. Checking and unchecking makes no difference.

@@richardhawkins1628 OK then is it possible that when you migrated from V8R2 to V8R3 you didn't copy across the Cables.ses in the symbols folder or CablesNew.mdb from the Templates folder?

@@IGEXAOUK That was it, thank you! I had already copied the *.ses but that didn't help. Per you comment, copied the *.mdb files in templates for the cables and they are all there now. Thanks again.

What does the "multicore" button do? It seems to convert a wire to a single core cable, but I don't think that's what used for.

Good question, it allows a single wire to have a multicore marker added which via the multicore properties can then have all its cores and destinations defined in a table (not physically drawn). Each core can have a target point defined on the source and target symbols, as well as core size and colour information. Be aware this is only available in the advanced level See Electrical package.

Hi, I can't find the individual symbols in my symbol tree. Have they been moved in V8R3?
@IGEXAOUK

Hi Barbara, no they've not been moved. Click to insert a cable and check the symbol database and folder mentioned in the start, middle and end. If you still can't find it try right clicking in white space in the symbols panel and select properties. Look down the list and make sure it's set to on for your page type, otherwise it'll be hidden.

Hi, when a multicore cable spans two sheets, it will only allow me to label the cable on one sheet. If i try and use the same tag it says that it's already in use. Is there any way to label the same multicore cable on two sheets?
@IGEXAOUK

Hi Charlie, good question. In the Advanced level package this is handled by selecting the cable, right-clicking and using the 'Copy Image/Copy Ghost' command then opening the linked page and pasting the image. The result is a linked image that updates if changes are made to the source cable.

@@IGEXAOUK Thanks that worked. It doesn't look like you can assign a wire number to a cable core though?? We have cable assemblies (maybe 32 off 1.5mm² black) which have cable core numbers to help identify each core, but they would most likely have different cable numbers in the assembly.

@@baballuci if you're using signal types, in the signal type setup form there's a setting to 'Show net names on connections with cables'. Hope this helps.
