Kester Osei Mensah, a member of the "See Something, Say Something" team at the Ministry of National Security, has urged the public and students not to abuse the emergency number.
In Kester's opinion, the campaign has generated many prank calls at their call centre, especially when the campaign team is engaging students and the general public on the need to call the toll-free number 999.
According to him, the general public is advised not to prank the call centre but rather to report cases that will result in the arrest of criminals.

In a bid to increase awareness and vigilance in thwarting potential terrorist attacks among students, churches, and the general public, the Ministry of National Security has intensified its “See something, say something” campaign in the Northern region ahead of the election in 2024, using the acronym SALUTE. This makes it easier for people to describe suspicious acts when they call the emergency line.
In an interview, the team member of the “See Something, Say Something” campaign, Kester Osei Mensah, cautioned the general public against pranking the emergency call centre since it poses a big challenge. He noted that the prank calls obstruct legitimate concerns from other callers in need, hence the need to rather take advantage of the emergency numbers to report criminal activities in the communities.
