It's been ten years since American Bird Conservancy (ABC) published its monumental report, "The Impact of the Nation's Most Widely Used Insecticides on Birds," which documented impacts from neonicotinoids (aka neonics), toxic insecticides that harm birds, the insects that sustain them, and the ecosystems they rely on.
A decade later, not much has changed in the regulatory landscape, though the body of knowledge and evidence about the harm caused by neonics has developed significantly. ABC's new report, called “Neonicotinoid insecticides: Failing to come to grips with a predictable environmental disaster,” reviews the latest research on neonicotinoids’ wildlife and ecosystem impacts.
