Just found your channel in mid-July. I am in the process of moving from an 8B climate to a 6B climate. I might as well erase all the garden videos I have saved over the years and watch every one of your videos. I have to relearn everything about gardening and I can tell already, I only need your channel to teach me all I need to know. I am so glad I found you.

I dont get an advanced notification of your videos I kind of figured out about the podcast,on Saturday right? But what time,I live in NY. I have so many questions. I planned peas for the first time and then we got that drought spell. I saw your podcast on how to beat the heat by lots of mulch. So I put some old hay around them and most important I let the grass keep growing around them and I have snow and shelling peas coming. I made stir fry with my snows. So good. TY Nate

Nate, I have recently discovered your channel and am inspired by your energy and knowledge. Your willingness to explain all of these wonderful gardening secrets has got me motivated to learn more. I started gardening in 2004 and decided to teach myself the secrets of canning and preserving at that time. I have canned hundreds of quarts of green beans and tomatoes and juice and kraut and even made kimchi as well. Also, I make my own blackberry and mulberry jam and pear butter too. Keep up the good work and I will be watching for your new videos to show here on KZitem.

Nate. No room for potatoes except those that popped up in compost which is shaded. We'll be planting potatoes that have chits in the garden near winter. As long as temps stay below 48F they won't grow until then for Early start in the spring for potatoes. We'll be putting crushed eggshells for slugs and snail deterrent with potatoes. Heavy mulching of straw and grass clippings. We'll be amending the soil with compost before planting. Gotta buy short season peas and we'll be set.

My Navone rutabagas are the size of cabbage heads. I will overwinter them, so I will have more seeds than I know what to do with next year. Hence, next fall I will have a tremendous harvest when I plant them. I will still start some now for a fall harvest this year too. I am located in North Mississippi, but next year I will be planting much of my garden at my Viking Outpost in Southern Missouri. Cheers.

Are those the Yellow of Parma onions? They're WAY ahead of mine! I planted some Yellow Sweet Spanish (also from BC) alongside the Yellow of Parma and they're actually doing better. I think it's because half of those died as seedlings, thinning them out so the remaining ones got significantly bigger by the time I planted them out. Next year I'll thin them intentionally around mid-March. I'm the one that asked about the rotten log mulch BTW and after putting about 3" of it on my onion beds the onions perked up and took off. Drastically reduced the water requirement too! They seem really happy about being mulched with rotten log material and the brownish red mulch is drop-dead gorgeous! Always enjoy your videos Nate!
