To say I'm excited for this is an understatement! Patriarch Nikon's reforms and the response of the faithful is a fascinating chapter in history and so much can be learned about human nature, resilience, etc! (also one of my favorite paintings is Vasily Surikov's 'Boyarynya Morozova') I can't wait!

I like how you give us a taste of your upcoming reports in yt shorts before you upload the main video. It’s like a commercial. Other reporters post the full video then chop it up into shorts later.

If you really wanna your mind blown, go read about the "Russian Mennonites" who fled German/Dutch lands upon the invitation of Catherine the Great. Then when the communist revolution hit, many of them left to Canada. Then when Canada introduced compulsory government education, half moved to the US, some to Mexico and the rest to Belize. So now, today - there's a big group of people in Belize who live in their own communities and speak an old Germanic dialect (Plautdietsch).

No, they so different. They live in closed communities, everything else is personal. Some people prefer to live in the wilderness, while others inherited life in the wilderness and are unable to change it.

Did a study abroad in Daugavpils, Latvia and the group before us told us how the old believers there tried forcing the black dude in the group into their church compound while touring Church Hill. That guy was my groups head tutor during my trip. He had some funny stories about being a black American guy in Eastern Europe. Old believers are some pretty strange people!

We Muslims believe that Christianity is the predecessor of Islam, and argue that this is why our traditions are similar. We believe that God's orders were initially the same with all of his people. Jewish people and Muslim people are similar for this reason, too.
