I looked up the game Jisatsu and noticed that it's a funny little pun to the name. Jisatsu does mean suicide however it's usually spelled with the characters for 'Self' and 'Murder'; 自殺. The game however is titled '自撮' with the character for 'Taking picture/video', '自撮り/jidori' is selfie, for example. So the title is spelled like "Video of oneself" but pronounced as "Suicide". This is probably why the title isn't translated for the english release. Man I love the japanese language it's so cool

Suggestions/Tips for Paris & Versailles: Le Train Bleu is a resturant with beautiful 18th-Century esque rococo design, cited by some to be the most beautiful restaurant in the world, gold embossed walls, mahogany, classical paintings, opulent gold chandeliers Opéra Garnier, or Palais Garnier: the beautiful Opera house in Paris, such an incredibly spectacular building interior that it has to be one of your top 3 places in terms of priority to see, I hope you get to see an opera there! But even if you don’t go for an opera, please still tour the building The Palace of Versailles: I highly advise you to stay overnight in the town of Versailles, because there’s so much to see at the Palace & the train commute back & forth to Paris, even if your hotel is near the train station, is just a bit too much for all in one day, even though it is technically possible. Plus depending on the tickets you get, you may be able to see a musical fountains show as well as a night’s fountains show. Depending on the time of year, there’s also a number of dances & events of dressing in 18th-century costumes with live musicians in the Hall of Mirrors, for these you will want to check Chateau de Versailles Spectacles Montmartre: Most beautiful at sunset, also features the historic Place du Tertre which is an artist’s square. The Eiffel Tower: The best place for pictures with the Eiffel Tower is the Place Du Trocadero, the metro stop is Metro Stop: Trocadero Lines 6 & 9 If you are looking for that famous grassy park there’s also the The Champ De Mars, Metro Stops: Trocadero Line 9; Bir-Hakeim Line 6; Ecole Militaire Line 8 The Louvre: I saw an insider tip that the Louvre is supposed to be open extended hours on Friday nights which is typically less crowded by evening, if you haven’t found other events scheduled for Friday nights, go during the day 1st, but if you want to return that possibly less-crowded option is something to keep in mind I also recomend a sunset boat tour on the Seine river, it is absolutely marvellous & you get to see the exteriors of a lot of the most-photographed buildings all in one evening including the Hôtel de Ville, the Conciergerie, & the 1srt sparkling light show of the Eiffel Tower of the evening General tips, some metro stations have a lot of exits, or “sortie”, Châtelet for example has 19 different exits. Also avoid taking busses in most parts of Paris especially the Banlieue. I also recommend having a paper public transportation map as reception isn't always acessible on the metro! I hope you have an absolutely wonderful trip Natalie! I’m going to bed now but I’ll come back & leave a comment tomorrow with more recommendations for chocolatiers, pâtisseries, boulangeries etc

I didn't see a lot of people asking for this, but I did see one chatter (not me) ask for Slay the Princess, which would be interesting if you wanted to try a more non-linear visual novel style, kinda choose your own adventure game with some horror elements. I was one of the people who asked for more Resident Evil, but I wanted to comment about Slay the Princess since its one of my favorite games in recent times and it seems kind of up your alley.

I'll drop my recommendations here too, so they're nice and contained: Little Nightmares: Puzzles, platforming, horror, carnism. Has a sequel as well. Untitled Goose Game: Domestic terrorism simulator, dynamic piano music to chill/vandalise a small town to. Limbo: Kind of like Little Nightmares, minus carnism. The Forest: survival game, where you can try out some long pork "as a last resort, I swear I had no choice", wink wink. Might be fun to fuck around in for a bit. Baldur's Gate 3: Not expecting a full playthrough, but a few streams might be fun. First three are quite short, 1 or 2 streams at most to complete.

If Switch streaming is still an option, I would like to recommend Deadly Premonition, a weird Japanese horror/investigation game that is basically Twin Peaks: The Game. It is also available on Steam but the port is really bad and most likely the game would just not launch at all, or run at like 5 FPS.

Lol even short of outright horror, I’ve actually found it increasingly hard to escape into the kinds of stories I like, because when things are hitting the fan THIS badly in America right now… The social commentary just hits different- WAY too close to home. Like, I enjoy A Song of Ice & Fire, Game of Thrones (as well as Elden Ring, all that GRRM & FromSoft stuff)… But recently, watching House of the Dragon… The fantasy setting doesn’t really take away from the fact that when they illustrate the horrors of civil war, & having anti-intellectual fascist cranks who venerate nothing except their narrow conception of “strength” & “might makes right” take over the state… Not to mention how fresh the unthinkable terror of the genocide in Palestine are on my mind every day- which makes seeing a field of tens of thousands of corpses, or seeing people bathed in dragon fire- things that 5 years ago might’ve been easy to compartmentalize as just being fantasy, just entertainment… Now, they bring to mine so many real, immanent horrors, & how horrific the risk of civil war or fascist takeover would be, so viscerally… It makes it very hard to enjoy it, even on a “at least the social messaging is good” level, because it still just feels like… How can we bask in this orgiastic display of spectacular violence when this is basically what’s being done to real human beings? How can I feel anything other than anxiety about the coming year when I see a fictionalized portrayal which is intentionally trying to represent the kind of PROFOUNDLY disturbing situation we are in? Maybe a ways back it could’ve felt like “It’s good that this critique is being offered in our culture. It’s good that people are thinking about this…” But at this point, everything feels so on rails, like both parties (ultimately the billionaire capitalists & corporations behind them) are just going to make this happen no matter WHAT we want- they’re accelerating climate change & militarizing the border & dehumanizing refugees in preparation for the climate refugee crisis they’re creating. They’re rapidly taking away the last few rights we have. They’ve built the entire infrastructure of mass surveillance, militarized police, the most insanely bloated military budget in world history, & on down the line, over decades, before our eyes, so all of it is already there & ready to go when a fascist gets into power. Now they are so down to the last steps, so confident that it doesn’t even matter whether we know what they’re doing, that they feel able to openly admit their plans to grant the “president” (at that point, would-be dictator) the ability to rule by decree… To have fascist far-right Heritage Foundation sickos seize every leadership position in the entire administrative state in an unprecedented purge/coup… To GET RID OF public education/the Department of Education… To start mass exiling American citizens (“deporting” them, to where, who knows) for criticizing the genocide they’re carrying out. To criminalize not even just all abortion, but all contraceptives, porn- which would require PSYCHOPATHIC levels of panopticon surveillance & secret police type control to enforce… Going after LGBTQ people, women, immigrants, refugees, labor organizers, protesters, activists, progressives of all stripes, & on down the line, with unprecedented aggression… I mean, if they grant a far-right president the power to rule by decree + the immunity they’ve ALREADY imposed, then we are there- we would BE Nazi Germany after the Führer became the Führer. Only, with no US & USSR poised to liberate the world from the iron grip of that fascist Reich… Just a globe ensnared by a Nazi-adjacent, theocratic fascist empire with 750 military bases spanning every country on Earth & the world’s most powerful & high-tech intelligence agencies (GOD ONLY KNOWS what the CIA have at their disposal- they admitted to making a “heart-attack gun” 50 years ago, & have spent who knows how many trillions on black projects in the meanwhile)… It’s truly beyond contemplation, but we are THERE, & the American people themselves are the only thing that could plausibly stand in the way, with sufficient mass pro-democracy organization, solidarity, & commitment to rejecting this (treasonous) effort to overthrow the existing constitutional government- which, for all its problems, undemocratic as it already is, still looks great relative to the dystopian hell they’re trying to devolve us into.
