My pleasure, and thank you for watching them. Literally anytime I can make a video about Shinobi it will happen as those early 8bit, 16bit & arcade games are very special 👍🏽

I really like Shadow Dancer, I grew up playing the Amiga port of the arcade which is pretty good as far as Amiga arcade ports go. I'll have to play through the Mega Drive version now!

You should, it's obviously not a port but borrows heavily from its arcade cousin. An excellent game.

The arcade version back in the day had an air of sophistication to it, but was so difficult. I had the Genesis version and can definitely say I played the heck out of it. I played it enough to where I needed more of a challenge. So not only did I put it on the hardest difficulty - I also toggled off shurikens in the options. That gives you a 'No Shuriken' Bonus at the end of (almost) every stage (Bosses are the exception). Fast forward to the mid 2000's I came back to the arcade version via MAME. And what would I make myself do? Put it on the hardest difficulty and purposefully not use any shurikens. I can't say I was an 'S' Tier player since I still had to use magic in at least 2 places in 2 of the levels... There were just way too many enemies to attack them one by one with my sword only. It really came down to memorizing the stages, and when and where to attack. And it took me a long time to get as "good" as I was. But by now I'm so out of practice... Game tip... The arcade version's sewer level boss was the lady that had an electric shield, but you could stand just close enough to it so that when you fired your shurikens your hand would go through the shield and you would hit her. 😁

😂 sound like my brother, that's how he played the mega drive version. The arcade original is such a different beast with its own "unique" flavour, I still wish there was some sort of collection where we could swap out the ninjas from their own versions and drop them into the other shinobi games for a "remix" feel.

Mega drive version is the best. I remember going through the enitre game with no shuriken. At the time was a breeze. Now i struggle with the second stage lol

This seems to be a running theme of peak level 3 "Shadow Dancer-ness", once we attain that level of mastery we turn off shurikens with no power ups and obliterated the game. Unfortunately I'm not as good as I used to be either so I stick to level 2 difficulty now 😓

Indeed they are, in fact they are the coolest characters in video games in my opinion. I'm so looking forward to the new Shinobi title from Sega too.

@@Culturecrack thank you for that fantastic comment, that means a lot to me, hopefully you'll enjoy future content from my channel. Also if there's a retro game (modern game with retro tendencies) I haven't covered or talked about that you're interested in let me know and I'll try my best to cover it 👍🏽.

@Unikronn no problem bro, actually we were just talking about some old school PC games we used to play from PC Demo cds on live the other night. It would be great and nostalgic if you could cover some of them when you get the chance.
