Very nice. I have the 6 month version, produced in 2009. I've never seen the power reserve get to 6 months, though! It would be great if Seiko reissued the Scubamaster, it's gorgeous. From what I understand, Seiko intended this watch for Arctic and mountainous exploration, so the dial and hands are legible as possible. The 24 hour hand is not lumed so it cannot be mistaken for an hour hand if the wearer is suffering from hypoxia or other extreme weather ailment.

If you put a new capacitor in the 5M45 movement rather than a new 5M65 movement, do you still get the reserve up to 6 months? Also, do you happen to know the exact model number (either the one used by battery manufacturer or Seiko's# or both) of the updated replacement capacitor?

Got it. Thanks. I have a Seiko Kinetic charger from owning a Kinetic a long long time ago. May become my monthly watch winder if all works out and I pick up a SBCW009.

hahaha... Of course the GMT hand doesn't glow... There's NO SUN at times your hands need to glow... hahaha It would also confuse you potentially, at times when you have limited visibility. Nice review otherwise though. Helped me make a decision on whether to buy one.

Yes, but since it’s fairly old, it should be tested before trying to swim with it.
