It’s very unusual - I hadn’t previously seen this model - so thanks for purchasing one in such splendid condition and showing it to fellow watch enthusiasts! Personally it’s not a design I’d choose as it’s too stark, but definitely interested to view this retro model.

There's always something cool to be discovered within Seiko's vast catalog from old to new. Something like this you'd imagine may have been used in a sci-fi movie from James Cameron.

Very interesting. A retro digital watch from 1999 that looks like a retro digital watch from the early 80's! Considering it's a Seiko...but a digital...it's tough to say if you overpaid or not. If I saw this watch at a flea market I'd probably pay $50 for it. I would definitely include it in my rotation though and wear it! Great video!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 30mm strap, that’s wild! I kind of like the very distinctive digital display layout, even though it loses out on at-a-glance legibility. It’s fun seeing fresh vintage watch models, and I think I especially enjoy this 90s-2000s era if you can find more NOS. I found a Yema digital Rallygraph NOS for a little under 50, and a Longines Conquest that they did some weird ani-digi design with, which was only $200 as well (used, not NOS). That’s why I would say it’s a pretty underappreciated era and style of watch.

In a way it's probably worth the money because for one, it is a seiko and two, I have no idea where you might find another watch like that. Admittedly, I most likely would've bought the watch for $200 as well just because it's so unique. Very interesting, thanks for sharing. What's up Frank! 😎

I've surprised myself there, because my answer to the initial question in the video was YES. Yes, I've actually heard about Nooka before. And I'm in no way an expert, I can't recite watch references from the top of my head, I don't know all the current Rolex models, and very often some micro-brands, which are already known to a lot of people are completely new to me. Yet somehow I knew about this one. How weird. I don't remember, when and where I've learned about this watch, but I'm pretty sure somewhere on YT there's this video about the weirdest digital watch designs, with the whole chapter dedicated to japanese "city-style" digital watches and all those novelties, like watches that required you to "crack the code" in order to read time from blinking lights, maze of lines et c. I seem to remember there were Seikos and Albas featured in this video, so there's a good chance I've seen this watch there.

It's not an optical illusion Gary. It's a square so it looks bigger compared to a round case. Measure corner to corner ant that should give you a sense of its "visual" size. The Tag Monaco is a small watch but wears larger because of the corner to corner measurement. Cheers!

Of all the watches you've reviewed, this is definitely one of them! Seriously though, this was retro (whether ironically or unironically) when it was released. No way is that 90s styling. My guess is they were attempting to take on Storm watches, which were everywhere in the 90s. By the time this came out they hadn't just missed the boat, it had circumnavigated the globe and returned home.
