Nice watch and *70h* power reserve is making from it a very handy watch and competition to swiss powermatic 😀

Nice review. I picked this up as well as the Black Willard. They really did a great job. I mentioned this in your other video, the micro-adjust is a very tight fit, was not expecting that. I still really like the SBDC051. While not as close to an actual 62MAS, it still was very well done with a really nice case and dial.

Yes agree Seiko are back to producing better stuff again . A few years in the wilderness where they upped prices but the quality hadn’t improved . It seems they are addressing this which is very welcome .

It’s a stainless steel bezel. I just sold my Tudor BB58 as I thought it was boring. So I got this SEIKO and a Oris diver 65 heritage and still had cash left over.

I picked one up and it is gorgeous. only problem is I wish the micro adjust was something you could do on the fly. The case finishing whips my father's Rolex and the Diashield is very attractive.

Ever increasing prices with little to no value added. Plus the quality control is awful on these, a $1,200 watch. The forums are full of people who have the bezel lume pip hole drilled off-centre in the triangle on the bezel insert and I’ve seen a clasp where the micro adjust holes are drilled differently on each side of the clasp making the bracelet fit crooked. Only thing they fixed is the chapter ring as it doesn’t have one. Sorry but no thanks. I’ll pass on this one. For the price this watch should have virtually no QC issues and a ceramic bezel insert.

have to agree, just got the sbdc051 yesterday and the bezel action is terrible. it skips and then gets hard to rotate. not as expensive as this watch but at $700 you would expect the bezel to function properly. i am so dissapointed.

A short review, but, still enjoyable. The finishing is superb for the money. Nevertheless, this is what l see when l put it beside by GS diver. The indices on the GS dances even in dim lights. The brush finished hands has rainbow effect. The brush finished on the case is more distinct. As the Zaratsu polished on the case, you really have to put them beside to see the difference. Mine is already a few years old, so, really, it's not important. They wear off.

Seiko isn't outlining the date window on all of these newer models. The cutout by itself cheapens these more expensive watches. Thanks for the review! I do like the case sizing.

Someone on another review mentioned the bracelet pulls hair. I can see the inside of the bracelet is not smooth, it has lots of openings where the links connect, almost reminiscent of a folded links bracelet.

Just a warning for everyone , I purchased this watch from Seiyajapan and they shipped it via DHL. DHL is charging $150 usd import fee to deliver the package ! I have ordered over 50 watches from Japan , china , singapore up to $2500 usd and I have NEVER been charged an import fee ! I will never order from seiya again . I will only stick with shops like Gnomon.

I like everything but the bracelet and movement for the asking price. Gaps in the lugs showing push pins are terrible for this price range. Also $1900 AUD for a 6r35? If its accuracy is like the 6r15 no thanks. My miyota 9015 runs so much more accurately and consistent than my 6r15. The 70 hour power reserve isn't needed if you are wearing most days and has hand winding. So I can't see that as a huge benefit. In a watch costing nearly $2k it should have a better movement.

@astro boy $1600 is getting more reasonable considering my complaints. Keen to see how the accuracy goes after 2 to 3 weeks or so. I find with the seikos they lose accuracy as the wear in initially. If you can monitor each position and find a off wrist that balances it out near 0 on the daily then that's good.. looks amazing on a waffle strap but I still can't stand the bracelet. Congratulations on your purchase. 👍

astro boy well desk divers should be max 42 I agree, but actual real diving watches need to be 44 and up
@MarcraM82

@astro boy absolutely agree. This release is the only major brand diver which has a vintage feel and smaller case unless you go up to a Tudor or Rolex. Oris has the 65 but Im not a fan of the fake patina and general look. I'd still prefer the Seiko a little smaller maybe around 38 for my 6.5 inch wrist.
@MarcraM82

@astro boy yeah it seems to curve nicely. I need to try it on. That's a good upgrade for you from the skx. Hopefully the movement keeps good time. I think you chose perfectly by not getting the bracelet. I think strapcode will probably make a bracelet for it eventually and it will fit better than the Seiko.

It's a very handsome watch from Seiko with all the visual cues that define the brand. I like the handset particularly. I am not a fan of any watch that has a blunt cut between the lugs as it looks abrupt when wearing it on a NATO. If you're just a bracelet-only wearer, this is not even an issue. Still, the competition is fierce at this $1100 to $1200 price point. Watches from Oris, Longines, Christopher Ward, and many microbrands give this Seiko a real run for the same money. I do like it, though.

@Lee_K_5555

I'm not -- The street price for the Seiko is $1170, as are the competitors I mentioned. This is what Aron paid for it at Gnomon Watches, with a Japan-only warranty. Hence the direct comparison with Oris and Longines watches on the grey market.

Seiko/grand seiko killed them self for me years ago. Seiko used to be a charming Japanese brand that made decent watches at a reasonable price. Well i dont know if that reputation went to their head but now they have managed to double their prices and double the watch sizes while keeping their shoddy quality control and finishing. I don't even recommend them to people anymore.

Love the channel and all the great info. Thank you. Quick question of you would please. If you could purchase either the Sinn 104 or the seiko sbdc101, which would you buy? Is the Sinn with the metal bracelet worth the extra money? Thank you very much for any insight.
