Casio wins hands down. The floating hour markers, the milled clasp, the metal finishing, the angle shapes of the end links, the additional functionality of BlueTooth... Casio all the way. The only thing Seiko did better here was the clearer looking glass. Not enough to win over the Casio in my opinion. Great video though. Thanks for making it.

I couldn't make up my mind so I got both! I looked at the next level titanium SBTM Seiko you recommended at the end but the patterned dial worries me a bit. My titanium watch is the Oceanus S100. That watch is a beauty. Love the set and forget accurate watches. Great review.

Oceanus with its Zuratstu polishing! My bet is that the original owner of the T200 tried to polish those edges and messed it up. Those would normally be mirror-like finished. The crystal is hard to see most of the time, even though the lighting in this video doesn't really show it. I own 3 Oceanuses, the T-200, P2000 Cachelot, S5000 Manta. I own several Seikos and the Oceanus watches are better built all around. Of course there is the pretty strong indication/rumor that Oceanus and Grand Seiko are made in the same factory. You showed making manual adjustments to the Oceanus. Why would you when the app does all that for you?
@bensieber6960
8 ай бұрын
I've owned both of these, and now own a SBTM339. I found the Casio to have a more premium feel and look, especially for the cost, but I had difficulty getting my Oceanus to reliably pick up the radio signal. I've had this issue with other Casio watches, but my Seiko radio control watches have never had this problem. I opted for the SBTM339 because I really love the lighter blue dial, love classic Seiko design and wanted a radio watch. I've been slowly building a collection of premium quartz watches, with a pair of Chronomasters, a pair of 9F Grand Seikos, and a couple of limited edition Citizens. The SBTM339 feels at home with these.

I've had my Casio S100 for 2yrs, it's a brilliant watch and I still love it, only two niggles for me are the pin and collar bracelet and only two micro adj. always seems a bit strange to me that the S100 is titanium but the T200 is stainless steel

G good to see these side by side. The Seiko would certainly blend in among other Seikos (automatics, solar and quartz) whereas the Oceanus has its own thing going one. I have the S100 Oceanus and the lightness of the titanium definitely adds something to these watches. So I think your choice of the titanium Seiko makes sense given your preference here. Hopefully it lives up to expectations - and I would ask Sakura to inspect it before shipping it to you so as to try to avoid getting a “duff” one. G

Not sure what the letters around the Seiko mean but they appear to be centred on minute markers. So MSF is at 60;seconds and DCF is at 01 seconds. I presume some button press will send a hand spinning around to the letters which will tell you something.

Bluetooth makes the Casio Oceanus a winner. I bought this watch recently for that reason. Bluetooth regulates watch accuracy much faster and more reliably than radio-sync. Adjustable bracelet clasp is a huge bonus, giving a perfect refit throughout the day!

In my brief time as a watch collector - starting when I bought the Pagani Design Speedy homage instead of a Moon Swatch - I’ve bought two dozen watches, half of them automatics. While I haven’t lost my admiration for the ingenuity of the mechanism that allows them to run without winding or batteries when worn regularly, I have found a growing impatience with having to wind and reset whichever one I choose to wear. When pressed for time, I will select one of my quartz watches instead. That got me thinking that I should add a true Set-and-Forget watch to my collection. My choice was Casio's WVA-M640D-1ACR. It's an Ana-Digi that never needs winding or a battery because it's solar powered and never needs setting because it receives atomic time by radio. As a bonus, I get such digital amenities as a stopwatch, a countdown timer, multiple alarms, and an LED so it can be read in the dark. It looks good, is highly legible, is light on the wrist, and has easily become my default timepiece.
