I agree 100% that there should be a cheaper screenless variant of the C-800 around 500 USD with bluetooth and a companion app. I would probably instantly buy that.

Thank you for the well informative video. Sekonic C-800: How to add new Memory Data to a pre-existing Memory Title other than the last one created? All newly saved memory data seem to end on the last created Memory Title. This is regardless of the selection on the Memory Title folder. Selecting and Recalling a Memory Title doesn't work for this feature. I tried the C-800 Utility on macOS, but it doesn't allow copying and pasting memory data in any tabs. The User Manual doesn’t address adding new Memory Data to a pre-existing Memory Title. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sekonic C-800 F/W 20-11-11 (860B)

I am not sure what exactly you are trying to do here. The way we use it is to store a number of readings and download them to the computer. I am not sure what else is there to do with the unit in this respect.

Thanks for your prompt response. Suppose you are testing different light brands and models for each one. Under SkyPanel, -Memory Title- you measured two models: 01 and 02. Then you have three models for Aperture, Memory Title: 01, 02 and 03 Now you want to go back and measure SkyPanel's third light. Trying to save that Memory Data into SkyPanel, Memory Title doesn’t work. The third measure for that light brand will get placed in Aperture Memory Title (the last created Memory Title). This is regardless of our Recall Memory Title selection. Once again, thanks for your kind response.

@@willianaleman6114 I am still honestly not sure what you are trying to do here. You have a list of memory "cells" that can store readings of the C800 on the device. As far as I can tell the only thing that you can do with them is view them on the device (which is really inconvenient) or download them to the computer. If you are running out of cells (I think you have 99) then it will probably tell you or overwrite the ones you have but I can't see a use for that many. B.T.W. the way we know which reading is which is by writing it down on a piece of paper - yeah really... As a side note - the whole process is horrible in my view - I suggested in the video and to Sekonic to have this whole thing communicate with a phone app where you can easily view, share name, etc. every test - they said it is not a priority at this point...

@@IddoGenuth HiIddo Genuth; thanks for your kind and prompt response. Thanks to the Sekonic Support department, below is the solution to the issue regarding adding Memory Data to a Pre-Existing Memory Title in Sekonic C-800. In short, it consists in retyping the name of the desired Memory Title from the list of Title Memory tab. This will overwrite the desired Memory Title, allowing it to load that folder into the Memory Title tab and add new Memory Data measurements. Tip: if the end of the titles is similar in numbers or letters, we don’t have to retype the entire title, just the exact last number or letter. Perhaps you can make a video of the following step by step. To open the Tool Box Memory from any measure mode, select the Wrench Memory icon at the right bottom of the screen. The title appearing in the Memory Title is the one currently loaded where all memory measurements get saved. That is the one we want to replace with a pre-existing title from the title list if we have more than one. From the Tool Box Memory function tab, select the Memory Management tab Using the up and down arrows, navigate through the list of titles. Please take a note or memorize the title you wish to load into the Memory Title and add Memory Data. Hit the Close icon. This takes us back to the selected measure mode To open the Tool Box Memory function again, hit the wrench Memory icon Select Memory Title Retype the Title (remember, if the end of the title is similar in numbers or letters, we don’t have to retype the entire title, just the exact last number or letter. When done retyping, hit the OK icon. The target name from the list appears loaded in Memory Title. Take the new measurement Save the new measure. The new Memory Data appears now under the new title in the corresponded Memory Title - Memory. I wish Sekonic would have a better intuitive way to do this. For example, to load the desired Memory Title directly from a contextual Menu of the Memory Title, instead of having to retype the title, which adds extra steps. At least they have provided this workaround, which is not documented in the User Manual or video tutorials.

@@willianaleman6114 Thanks for sharing this William - I now understand what you were trying to do and I hope this helps anybody. As I said - I don't mess around with the data on the device - the whole memory interface is horrible. I only save and download to the computer and write everything down on paper. The unit itself is fantastic in what it does but they need to make one that belongs in the 21c with BT and a decent app.

can you use it as flash meater?

This is not a light meter, it's a spectrometer (Sekonic has a completely separate line of pro light meters sadly there is no line that does both things).

You can use it as a flash meter, as it can also measure flash. I've used it to measure flash color temp and spectrum. If all you need to measure is flash exposure, then Sekonic has less expensive light meters specifically for that.

@@sebastian_trzaska Can you explain exactly how you used the C800 to measure a flash?
@sebastian_trzaska

@@LensVid On the measuring screen you touch the sun icon to change the measuring mode from Ambient to "Cordless Flash Mode" or "Cord (PC) Flash Mode". I used the cordless mode, which works by clicking the measure button on the side as you would with any other light and then it will detect when you fire your flash if you do so within the next 90 seconds. The big difference to Sekonic's dedicated flash light meters is that the C-800 won't fire your flashes for you, unless you use the PC sync port.
