This practice and prayer will get me through feelings of helplessness and guilt while watching my adult sons stumble upon their childhood traumas and results of family abuse. I escaped, they stayed . . . it is very hard to watch this years later as it is starting to come out. Thank you Kristin for this gift to us.

doc, Ive been practising the meditations on your website for months. They mean so much to me. Your voice is so gentle and soft and the words you say throughouth them are so helpful. They help to move from difficult shame and guilt towards compassionate mindset - its like a miracle. I am so happy that they are online and free and in different, very helpful forms ♥ ♥

Perfect timing for me today. I'm glad you couldn't see my tears, but they were tears of relief, and comfort in the suffering. Thank you, I'm so grateful.

Thanks for this. I am a physician and I don't get in touch with my own feelings a lot of the time when I am seeing patients and it takes a toll. So I appreciate your pointing out getting in touch with the awareness of what I can and can't do and what I need to do the job.

Kristen, I was working on a module on care-giving and this meditation is God-sent! Thank you! I'm going to be sharing this and will credit you and your website when I do so. I especially liked the fact that this can be practised with the breath when one is in the midst of a challenging situation. Gratitude again!

Thank-you! This was very helpful to help me start to regain balance after caring for my 91 yr old mom across the last 4 months. ( and both parents for the 3 yrs before that) Mom and I both did okay for the first 2 months and then she had to have emergency gallbladder surgery and I was consumed helping her at the hospital and the rehab hospital. I feel blessed that she is on the road to a full recovery! and now I'm trying to finding my way to recovery and a better balance also!

thank you for your work in developing and sharing these self compassion practices. I've found this to be the one thing that reliably helps lift my mood out of despair and shift my mind state to one of self care and self help i think everyone could benefit from learning self-compassion

It reminds me of the Buddhist practice of Tonglen, I believe, that is what it is called. Thank you for the guidance. As a caretaker for my 94 year old father, I will use this meditation throughout the day to benefit my own self-compassion and also offering my father compassion. Namaste.

Wow, this was helpful. I'm not sure how I didn't know about her before. Is it normal to weep afterward doing this for all the years I hated myself for not being able to "fix" things that were never in my control?

Dr. Neff, would you please make a self-compassion meditation for mothers? Most moms I know are struggling during this pandemic. Thank you for considering.

I'm a mom and use this for my child. He has special needs, but I think all moms can use this meditation. We take on so much of our kid's suffering, even their boredom, always trying to improve their situation. It's easy to neglect ourselves.

Wonderful, thank you. Maybe you could do one for grandparents raising babies. I’m near 70 and single raising a now 2 year old. Stress and fatigue. I’m wearing thin no time for self care except for a few minutes a day.
