There are a few ways to broaden your searches for raw materials: • Visit our global suppliers page: createcosmeticformulas.com/IngredientSuppliers/cosmeticingredientsuppliers-897/ • Join our Cosmetic Raw Materials for Small Brands facebook group: facebook.com/groups/1734896293290235/ here you can split packs with others to access materials from large suppliers When you are a student with us, you also get access to our raw material database, which has 1000’s of raw material details in it, along with supplier details - so you can access this info, get in touch with suppliers and ask for samples (they will provide our students samples) and/or seek minimum pack sizes (or consider purchasing and splitting packs on the Small Brands facebook group above). What if instead of adding essential oil + solubilizer +surfactants to the water phase, you add Caprylic Trigyceride + solubilizer + Sapogel to the water phase? Would that work?

Hi Belinda thank you! Just a question. Using the preservative in the oil phase is a matter of choice? I mean, could I use a water soluble preservative in the water phase as well? or it would change something in the final product? Thanks!
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401

Don’t use ‘extra’ preservative ‘as well’ as it can be irritating to the consumer, even if natural. Use one broad spectrum preservative in the formula and add it in the phase it is best suited to - it will still provide protection. This video is amazing! I am going to make a version of my own. I am going to test a natural surfactant blend and a polysorbate. Which would be more effective for this formulation polysorbate 20 or 80? Could I add a polyquaternium-7 for an extra conditioning feel?
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401

Hi Zachariah, glad you enjoyed it! You could use either polysorbate 20 or 80, my preference would be for polysorbate 20 and yes, you could add polyquaternium-7; just remember that these materials are not totally natural when adding them - they are fine to add but then the formula is not totally natural/naturally derived. Happy formulating!

Polquaternium 7 is cationic. Cationics (+ charged) are not compatible with anionic ( - charged ) surfactants, they will cancel each other.

what kind of solubilizer do you use? I try to combine peg-40 hydrogenated castor oil in my formula, but the texture of the foam changes (it drops. the foan becomes not too smooth and creamy). whether there is impact or correlation between solubilizer towards the foam consistency? thank you.

Some solubilisers will foam better than others and also change the foaming profile as they form mixed micelles. Please contact us for full formulation, method and supplier details: info@personalcarescience.com.au

Yes the superfatting material is used as the solubiliser, and as you can see, is more than enough to solubilise them completely! Please contact us for full details: info@personalcarescience.com.au happy formulating!

Amazing video. What did you do to adjust the pH and would you not add any chelating agent to it?
@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
5 жыл бұрын
Hi Riya, we use sodium hydroxide (30%) or citric acid (50%) to adjust pH - depending on what the formula needs. You don't need chelating agents where the water quality in the formula is good and also where the surfactant performance is not affected in hard water. Please contact us for full formulation details: info@personalcarescience.com.au To learn more about pH, please watch both of these videos: kzitem.info/news/bejne/1GZ_nY6pgKOGm6A and kzitem.info/news/bejne/zK2ssnWBbH2SqII Hope this helps, you'll learn lots! Happy formulating :)
