Made up a story for a game of this on the spot. Came to this channel for the Ripplestar map theme, stayed for whatever the heck this is. Dante came to the Underground not because of some hatred for humanity, or to necessarily “figure out what happened to the other children” but rather to document the life and happenings in the underground. After all, all the humans of today have to go off of regarding what monsters are like is… well, century old books in libraries. Who’s to say the monsters were as much of a threat to humanity as they’re led to believe? Who’s to say those human’s really died to the monsters themselves, and not something else? Heck, who’s to say they actually died? Who’s to say they even fell into the Underground at all? All people put up are missing posters, but considering the thing about “human’s who fall never return,” it’s safe to say they never found any damning evidence against the monsters. So… Dante decides they’ll do it. They’ll be the one to truly figure out what the Underground is like. Extras: I imagine the Notebook isn’t actually their weapon of choice, but rather the pen they write with. After all, if they’re going to be documenting everything, I imagine they wouldn’t wanna risk losing pages beating someone with it. Maybe they start off with a raggedy notebook that, while it’s not perfect, gets the job done, but once they get to Gerson, he trades it for a newer one, and helps the Human copy down all of their previous inclusions from the last one. Which leads me into… Saving. I was thinking about how this’d work, like, can Dante save? Does Dante know what saving is? Does Flowey do it for them? No, no, and yes. Documentation. The whole reason they’re down there. I wanted to incorporate it into saving, but how?… then I thought of it. Dante doesn’t want Flowey to save… until he finds a completely smooth surface to write on. Why? Simple. “They don’t want their handwriting to come out messy.” This would make sense in areas before they meet Gerson, sense the old book is raggedy, and the cover is a bit torn. After that though? They still do it. Why? “It just feels right.” At any point, you can look through the actual notes he writes. Not much, yeah? That’s what you’d expect. But here’s the thing, and say it with me now: “Things change drastically depending on your route.” On the pacifist route, Dante is honest. They say everything how it is, and overall writes the underground more sympathetically… but in the Geno route? Dante is an unreliable narrator. They actively paint the Underground citizens as if they all have bad intentions, and as if the monsters aren’t people, but… well, monsters. The further in the game you get, the more self-appraisal they give themselves, as if they’re the hero the surface needs, but everything they write in there is a lie. In the pacifist route, Dante gets Gerson’s help to make the book rewritten, and while the first book has presumptions about most of the early encounters, the rewrite shows them seeing everything from a new perspective, they’ll describe someone like Toriel as “overprotective and a bit scary” at first, only to later go back on that in the first notebook, only to skip confusing the readers by immediately stating that she has good reason, to entice the reader into continuing in the second notebook. In the geno route, someone ruins the note book, destroying it, and they steal the new one from Gerson. Where in the start of the original notebook Dante was a bit hesitant about what they were doing, ya know, murder, in the new book, he’s unapologetic. Completely and utterly defacing the monsters, lying about all the good things they did, even drawing pictures on the pages. (Also I know monsters don’t bleed but it’d be funny if the writing with the pen slowly go bloodier the deeper in the game you got-)

@@gronnblade listen I saw this video in the middle of the night at 1 am running on no sleep and I went back to the first video, saw the description, and when I saw the story wasn’t really written out, I though, “…ohhh no. Oh nononono, I won’t be sleeping in the next hour…” also just wanted to say I like the idea that some of the signs you see in the original game were written by Dante-

I'm not sure if flowey was a thing by the time perseverance fell, but if he was i can see him encouraging dante to do a geno or neutral route with the excuse of "just think about all the new reactions and personalities you could DOCUMENT!"
