This is a 6th session on Semiconductor Physics. In this session, Characteristics of Zener diode, Light Emitting Diode and Solar Cell (Photovoltaic cell) are discussed on the basis of energy band theory. Applications of these devices are also introduced.
Please note that "In Zener breakdown, tunneling of electrons will also occur from p-side valence band to n-side conduction band and this will be mainly responsible for large reverse current."
Flow of discussion is as per First year Engineering Mumbai University syllabus for Engineering Physics. This session was created by considering the current scenario of lock down due to which we are not able to go the colleges. Hope that students will find it useful..
