This! I'm 43 years old and I only became aware of this song for the first time a few years ago. I mean, I'm sure I probably heard it before that plenty of times but I was never "aware" of it. Today was the day I found out that I was 18 years old when it was released. On the flip side, you could tell me that it was released yesterday and I wouldn't raise an eyebrow. It sounds like it belongs everywhere.

This shit makes me cry. I was watching Dan Wilson in 2019 sing Someone Like You, and this one. And he's still good, but he doesn't ROCK like he does here. And that's cool, maybe he got all the rock out of his system. But IDK. I'm 28. I'm not 18 anymore. Not 15 anymore. And you guys who are 45 or whatever are gonna say "you're still young!". And I mean, yeah, but not AS young. IDK. I'm not ready to stop rocking. I don't wanna get older. I don't wanna die. I want to keep rocking forever. But it's all in the song... "closing time, every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end".

I don't know if this helps, but I'm in my fifties now, and I still rock out with the volume up. One can mature as a person and still love great music. One doesn't want to become that guy with the endless midlife crisis, and tbh, I'm not going to dive for a volleyball like I did when I was in my teens or twenties. One doesn't have to get "old" in one's head, though, and it seems to me that there's something to be learned from this.

I’ll never forget my class valedictorian closed out our high school graduation with “so gather up your jackets, move into the exits, I hope you have found a friend. talent doesn't happen like this in the mainstream anymore. they are a 3 piece band. the drummer is drumming while harmonizing. the bass player is playing the keyboards with his bass guitar hanging off him ready to be played once the song start and then you got the singer singing all the while playing the main melody to the entire song on his guitar. i'm not a fan of this band at all but I'd listen to them. what the hell has happened to the music industry? we got brain dead teenagers walking around with their cell phones all day all the while listening to the shittiest rap music ever created.
