Watch how Frank carefully moves the mic nearer and farther away from his mouth depending on the dynamic of his output. That is a very special talent and he performs it effortlessly. That is literally why he always sounds good and his perceived volume doesn't rise and fall with his actual volume. Amazing singer.

There is no gimmickry that he adds to his singing and voice. Frank Sinatra doesn't depend on tricks and add-ons, like other singers in whatever pop genre. @jondunmore4268

He's not "singing to the guitar" - the guitarist is following HIM. That's what any good accompanist should be doing. You'll notice the guitarist is following Frank's phrasing; he's coming in a millisecond later than Frank at the end of every line. The performance is still showing off Frank's great ability to phrase uniquely, but the difficulty rests more with the accompanist than with Frank. And when he sings with an orchestra, you can be sure they're following him as well, through the conductor.
