Sagara Oil Field (相良油田, Sagara Yuden) is located in Makinohara, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Crude oil was discovered at Sagara Village in May 1873, and hand-pumping operations began almost immediately. From 1874, Nippon Oil (the predecessor to modern ENEOS) began mechanical pumping operations. The Sagara field was the only producing oil field on Japan's Pacific coast, and was the first in Japan to use oil pumps. At the height of its production (in 1884), some 600 people were employed, and the field was producing 43,000 barrels of oil (721 kiloliters) per year. The oil was very light, and could be used in automobiles without refining. Production stopped in 1955, with the advent of cheap, imported oil. On November 28, 1980, the oil field was proclaimed a natural monument and protected cultural property by the Shizuoka Prefectural government, and was transformed into a public park.

The world was frozen in our modern day; so nah, there are oil reserves to maintain our current industrial exploitation needs for the next few centuries in just the relatively accessible deposits. Then there's the shale oil and oceanic deposits that could last another 1000 years of our current industrial exploitation. To be pretty frank: we are no where near-tapped on oil as it turns out; frankly further, for the Stone World, they only need enough oil to rebuild a chemical industry, and not much else, and chemical industrial usage is only about 27% of our current oil demands whereas transportation takes up something crazy at about 66%. As long as they aren't trying to recreate the consumer automotive industry, even some fairly shallow deposits could sustain a small chemical industry for a few decades.

The Biggest problem with this is, it's the same pitfall that got us into this mess. Senku has already demonstrated that he is able to produce plastics without using oil. There seems to be a reason, why that giant amount of carbon is in a way locked away from our hands. And it's not just the fact we'd burn our fingers. More like our atmossphere is most likely inhospitable, when we cause too much pollution. That same reason btw extending to All sorts of fossil fuels.

To be fair, Its been thousands of years since catastrophe hit, that's basically 0 greenhouse gases emision through all of that so planet's atmosphere should be mostly if not completely recovered at that point Add to that the fact that oil is currently THE most work-weight-power ratio efficient fuel source and it turns out this shit is godsend with most basic infrastructure but modern chemical knowledge

@@Nematoda4ever I know global warming and climate change exists, and I think Senku knows about it too, maybe if you give him some more time, like 10-15 years, if he live long enough he might invent a new energy source so that nobody have to use oil for fuel, plus it's been thousands of years since the petrification, most of the world pollution and climate change effects are gone, the atmosphere is OK in Senku's world
