Out of all the headphones I own there are two that get used the most. My Sennheiser HD 599's and my HD 58x Jubilees. The Jubilees are far and away the better sounding headphones and are my #1 choice for music listening, but it's the HD 599's which spend the most time on my head. Why? In a word...gaming. The 599's are the most comfortable headphones I've ever owned and yet sound brilliant. They stay comfortable through all-day gaming marathons which is not the case with the Jubilees. The 599's have earned a permanent place next to my computer.

I’ve tested the HD599 against some HD580 headphones. Whilst I do think the HD580 sound better, I prefer the characteristics of the HD599. Also, as you mentioned, the gaming experience on these headphones is incredible because I can wear them for so long and the sound isn’t ever fatiguing.

You also opened them up and did the mod so you can insert a 3.5mm mic?

just picked these up for almost 50% off during a boxing day deal, not an audiophile by any means but i've heard good things about these, i've used razer and hyper x gaming headsets for years so i'm excited to try these, only thing i worry about is the noise isolation as my pc can be somewhat loud when the fan kicks in

Nice review! I use ATH-M40s. I’ve used the audio technica M series for probably 12 years now. I also have a pair of 50s but they are beat up and the left ear doesn’t stay snapped to your head. Sometimes I use them when recording vocals because they let me hear my voice in the room a little. Lol. Would you recommend mixing on these open backs? I’ve been thinking about getting something like them for mixing.
@digitalaudioreviews7731

I would definitely recommend them for mixing. Before these, I used some ATH-M50X headphones and whilst they're still awesome, the HD599s' open-ness make them brilliant for mixing in stereo

Useful info and good presentation. I’m looking forward to more. I use Beyer 770 & Avantone for mixing. How would these compare? Thanks✌️

I wouldn't be able to make a comparison between those headphones and the HD599s as I have never used them. What I will say is that when I bought these headphones, I was also looking at the DT770s but bought these headphones for 2 reasons. 1) The pair I got second hand were cheaper than any DT770 Pros I could find second hand. 2) I have used Sennheiser products before so I knew that there was I good chance I would like these headphones when I bought them.

Hi, I own a wired Marshall Monitor closed headphone model M-ACCS-00152 (No Bluetooth), with a frequency response of 20Hz-20kHz and an impedance of 35 Ω. I also use the Dragonfly Red as a support DAC for my PC system and to improve the quality of listening with headphones. Do you think it makes sense to change this headphone in favor of the Sennheiser HD599? Would I improve my setup or do the two headphones sound more or less the same? (The price of both is essentially the same) Thank you

Sorry, I can’t help you there. I’ve never used those headphones and therefore have no idea what they sound like. They probably will sound different as the HD599 are open back but I can’t comment on whether the HD599 will sound better or not.
