Hello sir, thanks for the video. I have a question that as an amateur just started in making music and videos, would you recommend the IE 100 Pro to start with or the IE 300 or the IE 400 Pro? I have the budget to cover the IE 400 Pro but I want to make sure if my investment is good enough. Once again thanks for the fantastic video.

Hello Huy, thanks for the message. I have not personally used the IE 100 to be able to recommend them compared to these. They do look to be a 10mm single driver, compared to the IE 400 being a 7mm single driver, but without trying them personally it's really hard to say if they're any good. I'd have a hard time believing that the IE 400 is so much better to justify the price jump though. If that is the top of your budget, I might get the IE 100 now, and save up to upgrade to a multi-drive model in the next year, then have the IE 100 as a backup for the future. Thanks for the great question Huy, let us know what you decide & how it goes.

Thank you kind sir. I did not expect for a respond, but you gave me such a nice formative explanation. I purchased the Moondrop Blessing 2 already and soon the IE 100 Pro would be in my hand too. Once again, thank you so much for the answer.

For drummers playing live or recording, how is the isolation?
@DcSoundOp
2 жыл бұрын
Haven't tested them specifically for isolation with drums, but with the included tips they are are about as isolating as any other IEMs using non-custom tips. If you use the rubber tips and get the fit right, they are as good as any other. If you sing or do anything that shifts your jaw around while playing, you'll probably want to use replaceable foam tips for a better seal and more isolation. This will be pretty much the situation with all IEMS in my experience. If isolation is a big priority for you, custom molds are the only way to go. Thanks for watching & for the great question.

Hello, how do these compare against the IE80S?
@DcSoundOp
3 жыл бұрын
It depends on what you're going to be using them for -the IE80S is part of their audiophile range & comes with an app, a bunch of active DSP and an EQ that you can adjust yourself. They seem to be about the same price as the IE400 everywhere right now, so depending on your use they might be a good choice. Without hearing & trying them though, it's hard to say more about how they will actually perform in the real world. Thanks for the great question Esteban.

For a touring band looking to transition to IEMs and want to carry their own monitor mixer consider a package I put together for under $1,200. A Behringer XR18 16x8 digital mixer, two ART S8 8-channel transformer isolated splits and four 8 channel fan to fan XLR snakes. It fits in a 6U shallow SKB case. Put the rack next to the house snake. Plug the direct split snakes in to the house snake and plug the mics into the splitter. Now each member of the band can tweak their monitor mix using a tablet or smartphone. All for less than $1,200.

Every pair of these I've owned (5 thus far) have stopped producing sound on one side (earbud side) within a month of me receiving it. They seem to not be durable at all. I've used them for is general use, music, video games, on-the-go using my phone, nothing intensive. The shortest time these have worked for me is 12 hours, the longest being about a month.

WOW, 5 pairs!? Have they replaced these for you all under warranty? Have they failed on the same side each time for you? I'd be interested to hear what Sennheiser said, it would be unusual in my experience for them to do 5 warranty replacements without offering any suggestions for what the problem might be. Would love to know more.

@@DcSoundOp Sennheiser has replaced them under warranty, the issue happens randomly, though it tends to like dying on the left ear bud. Sennheiser has told me that they will send me the IE 500 Pros this time in the hope that they last longer.

@@DcSoundOp I guess I'm just confused why my IE 400s only lasted me less than a month each while most of the reviews on KZitem seem to be reviews made after months of use (in your case 4 months).

The earwax issue is easily solved with Q-Tips. I clean my ears every day and never see a trace of earwax on my in ear monitors.
@DcSoundOp

Cool, so when a band you're touring with comes off stage and leaves you a stack of sweaty, funky in-ears... are you going to follow them to the bus and give them all a good talking to about using Q-tips? No one is suggesting that cleaning and maintaining In-ears should be done instead of basic hygiene, and cleaning your ears daily is pretty standard amongst adults who use their ears to make a living. However, some people's ears produce more wax than yours do, other folks sweat more or have more oil in their skin... cleaning In-Ears properly for everyone is part of the job of a monitor engineer.

No, probably not for casual listening, I doubt you would be happy with most single driver IEM sets for that purpose. What features of an In Ear Monitor are you interested in that would make you choose them for casual listening? Maybe I can suggest something more appropriate. Thanks for the question!

@@marike1100 No, I said I doubt you would be happy with them for that purpose. If you want to carry & wear a $250 set of IEMs to listen to a podcast while you’re jogging, go nuts. Most casual listeners spending That kind of money ($100+) want something designed for listening, not personal monitoring.
