An amateur 16mm film showing a visit to the island of Sentosa just near Singapore in 1935. At the time the island was known as P. Blakang Mati, and had a British military base on it which was home to the Royal Artillery and their barracks. The visit covers most sights on the island at the time. This includes the barracks (which still exist today), the hospital, and of course the wonderful views and scenery. Today the island is a holiday resort and it is staggering how much it has changed.
This was digitised at 1920X1080 resolution from the original 16mm film.
Thanks to the film maker all those years ago who I believe was named V. Le Marchant, and to my nephew who found this film recently, without which all that follows also could not be.
