Hello Shea! I just came across ur channel and I like it already. I have an important question and would be very grateful to hear u out. I wanna sell many things on my Etsy shop. Different styles of print wallart (exp: landscape to minimal pastel coloured art)and selling for children colouring books and school print stuff. Do u think it would be a good thing to sell such many different stuff in one shop? Or would it effect the shop in a bad way. Thanks ahead 🫶🏻

Hi! You have to be in the "Keyword Tool" page. There are other pages that don't have the top listings at the bottom. So make sure in erank you choose the keyword tool from the top toolbar!

@whatshaesells
Жыл бұрын
Hi! Oh that is such a good question... My thoughts are to keep it the same store and see how it does. Try to be as clear as possible between the english and spanish versions (group them together in sections in your shop) and in the listing photos/description and just see how it goes. If it turns out that one language is selling and the other is not selling at all, or if you are getting questions and buyers seem confused, then you could separate it out into 2 shops!

I have another question (either for Shae or other Etsy sellers who might know the answer to this), when I do my research on Erank, should I leave the location as the US, or should I switch it to Canada since I’m a Canadian seller? I’ve been switching it to Canada but I’m not sure if it matters or if I should just leave it to the US. Thanks in advance for any help!!
@whatshaesells

Hi! It depends on where most of your buyers are coming from. For me, 85% of my sales come from the US, so I always do US. But if your target market was a different country or language, you could change it! Most of the time you’re probably US but it might be worth double checking the keywords for CA as well

This is great! I have a question tho, so if you found out which of the version is working , do you change all your titles and keywords of the same product on your listings to the version that is proven working?
@whatshaesells

Hi! I don't change the keywords of a listing unless it's been like 2 months and it hasn't done well. (As in no sales and basically no views/favorites) So I definitely give it plenty of time first. It's honestly pretty rare that a product does completely horrible when a different version of it does well, but it's happened a couple times!

great video! by the way incognito does not help. incognito is for not showing search history ect on a specific computer, not for incognito regarding data access for websites. the ip adress will remain the same, so etsy will costumize your search via incognito bc the system recognize that you are at least surfing from the same house as with the normal browser setting.

What do you mean by "versions 1, 2, and 3?" you post the "same" listing in 3 versions with different covers? If so, how can you tell if the difference was the listing cover or the SEO version used? I'm binge-watching your videos, amazing work, thanks for all the help.

Hi! I think i might explain more in another vid but yes the same exact product (not even a different color), with different SEO and a different first listing photo. I understand that usually doing experiments you want to vary just one item so that you can isolate what works, but unfortunately that would take so many iterations on Etsy and I don't think it's worth it. The Etsy algorithm is so complex that it's impossible to narrow down exactly what causes a listing to perform well. It could be something as simple as getting a like in the first few hours of listing it and suddenly the listing takes off, or even the time of day it was listed- there's so many possibilities. So I think making different versions is more to give your listings more chances of selling, rather than finding/isolating exactly why it's selling. Hope that makes sense haha!

Thank you Shae for your useful information, and condolences to you and your family. I have started an etsy shop selling digital wall art for almost a month now, the thing is I have made a few sales maybe 5 or 6 but were all from friends and family, I joined facebook etsy groups to promote my shop and used different sites like pinterest, instagram etc. to attract new customers, but I did not get any sales, I only had some visits or had people favorite the shop and not buy from it, I have tried etsy ads as well still no sales, I know I'm still new but hoped to get at least one sale from a stranger, do you think that's normal?

Thanks so much for this video, it clarified a lot of questions I had regarding SEO research! I have a question though, should I go back and edit my listing titles/tags for products I’ve already listed? I started my shop a couple weeks ago and I wasn’t too familiar with SEO research, so I feel like my listings could definitely be improved. I haven’t gained much traffic and haven’t even made one sale yet (I only have 6 products though so far, I haven’t been able to list daily, I’m aiming for 3+ listings per week). Should I edit them or will that affect the algorithm to my disadvantage in some way?
@whatshaesells

Hi! I suggest waiting at least 4-6 weeks before changing SEO on an old listing. Instead you could create another listing for the item with improved SEO and compare how it performs to the original listing!!

Hello Shae, i am binging on all your videos and they are super helpful. Thank you for making these videos. I have a question regarding 3 listing of same product, as i saw you had mentioned in one of your comment replies that you would post same product not even change in colour but with different seo and mock up photo. Wont user who visit your profile find it odd to find same product in 3 different photo? Or do you post 3 different products in one day and thier versions 1,2,3 in following days ?
@whatshaesells
Жыл бұрын
Hi! Glad my videos are helpful :) good question! I actually haven’t really had issues with listing the same product 3 times, with different cover photos/seo. I keep the price and description the same so it’s less confusing. I also do as you mentioned, I spread out when I list them! So it’s not all on the same day. I create all the versions at once in drafts but it could take me weeks before they are all listed because I do try to list different products each day :) I definitely think the benefits outweigh the potential drawbacks with this strategy! A lot of buyers don’t browse by shop and instead are just searching on Etsy, so it’s less likely that a buyer would come across all my versions of a single item!

Hi Shae! Just want to piggy tail on this since I had the same question. Thanks for postings all these amazing content. I loved how structured and unique your content is. So back to the question. After you discover one version does better. What do you do after? Do you stop running ads or close the listings on the other two? Can you then conclude the listing photo and keywords of the one version is better? Or this is more to diversify your chance to rank higher faster, and less of a test to try out keywords or listing photos? Also I think one of the goals is to boost your listing by getting as much momentum and review as much and as quickly as possible. By having multiple versions, doesn’t that spread your sales across these listings? Or do you closing the other 2 versions after testing for a period? Thanks again!@@whatshaesells

Do you think the product type is as important as the niche? Like, to rephrase, if you were to create the same products with same SEO but instead of canva templates you made google spreadsheets, do you think you'd still see success? I was on the fence if I should do canva templates like you since I know it's worked for you but I think that's just my brain trying to cling to the safe option even though I'm more expert at making spreadsheets ygm
@whatshaesells
Жыл бұрын
Ooh good question! Product type is not quite as important as the niche because if you have a good niche, you can experiment with different product types. That's actually a great way to differentiate yourself and be the only one selling that product type in a niche that's already proven. An example would be if you were making a chore chart. Mostly everyone is doing a printed one but if you did a digital spreadsheet version, that could potentially do well also. The only caveat is there definitely are products that people would rather have the Canva version of! So you'd want to do research but also make sure it makes sense to have it in spreadsheet format. Personally I think since you already are an expert at spreadsheets, I'd start with that product type and keep your store cohesive. There are a lot of spreadsheet-only stores that do very well and personally I think they are better than Canva templates because the barrier to entry is higher and there seems to be less competition. You also can charge a bit more for them so that will help!
@hamzaahmad564

@@whatshaesells that is super solid advice!! thank you so much i'll include that as a step in my niche research, potentially maybe look at canva templates/printables doing well that havent been made into spreadsheets and make an educated decision if they would make sense as a spreadsheet. that's really smart. also i saw the rest of your video, condolences for your grandpa, i hope you and your family are holding up well !

@whatshaesells

Hi! I am not quite sure about your question... usually when you have multiple files, you will have them in a .zip file. You usually can't upload so many files to a Etsy listing so you would just upload a single .zip that would contain them all!

Hey! So there's this common thing that Etsy sellers do in the digital printable/digital art niche: they offer multiple ratios of the same design, so people can choose their preffered ratio to print out! Usually they will offer 5 different ratios, and each ratio has slightly different size. And for each ratio, they will usually provide the biggest size stated in the Etsy listing which you can print out in all the smaller sizes available for that ratio. So if they offer 5 different ratios, the download includes 5 jpg files, one for each ratio. Hope this helps!
