Hello, this is Sseong.
This video is the second video of our visit to Daldongne in Seoul.
The place I visited is Baeksa Village in Nowon-gu, Seoul, which will soon be redeveloped.
In the late 1960s, shantytown residents living in Yongsan, Cheonggyecheon, and Anam-dong were forcibly relocated.
The place where the land was prepared is Baeksa Village, at the end of Seoul.
All we did was draw a 30 pyeong piece of land with chalk, designate it for four households to live on, and provide tents.
In the winter, it was difficult to find firewood, so the house froze, and during the rainy season, people were anxious all night long, fearing that the house would collapse.
The stories of the residents who lived at that time are also told.
They say there were so many wild animals that they couldn't go out alone at night because they were scared.
Now, more than 90% of the residents have left, and demolition is scheduled to begin within this year.
The evictees' shantytowns, which were a part of Seoul's urban history, will likely disappear without a trace.
I hope you can feel the current Baeksa Village through the video, which you won't be able to see for a while.
Thank you for watching.
