could you do a skincare routine for someone with rosacea?
@jujudithjujudith
5 жыл бұрын
Personally I find that french pharmacy brands have very good products for rosacea. This is my routine (I have rosacea and normal to dry skin without acne) In the morning wash my face with Bioderma Sensibio cleanser (it is very gentle and doesn't strip the moisture out) and then moisturise with La Roche Posay Rosaliac Riche and for SPF Bioderma Photoderm AR or LRP Anthelios. At night I use the creamy Bioderma Sensibio cleanser with a cotton pad (or wash your face with the same morning cleanser) and then moisturize with Avene Antirogeurs Fort (use something else for your eye area). When my skin is feeling hot or irritated I use some Avene thermal water and it helps calming it. PS. This is what personally worked for me and has kept in under control and I've tried tatcha, cerave, clinique and everything just irritated even more.

If you guys wear a chemical sunscreen be aware that you have to wait at least 15 minutes before applying another product or going outside, otherwise you're not letting the ingredients activate and work as intended. Also, anything over spf 30 is (mostly) a gimmick since the difference in protection is minimal and you still gotta reapply every 2 hours or so
@ScorpioMystik07
5 жыл бұрын
Better to apply Spf 50 in general. Like, don't need something written SPF 100. There the difference is like a few percentages. It's not a gimmick. It's just how the chemicals that provide us protection works. Eg: Suppose you have a headache. You can't have a Tylenol and immediately except it to start working the second you ingest it. It takes some time.
@allthatshines1008
5 жыл бұрын
@@ScorpioMystik07 yeah, what I meant by that is that companies usually will try to sell you the higher spfs for much more money. There is indeed a difference in protection from spf 30 and spf 50, but the difference is less than 2%, and the greater the spf the smaller that difference is. If the spf 50 product is just a couple bucks more then sure, go for it, but I've seen brands price make those products much more expensive and I've seen people by spf 100 looking for greatest protection when in reality you're just getting approx. 4% more protection for maybe double the price

@liberalsnoflinga2736
5 жыл бұрын
@@allthatshines1008 You are looking at SPF from the wrong way. You cannot say that spf50 is only 4% better than spf30 bc those 4% makes hella difference. Instead, spf50 is almost double the protection from spf30. This way of looking at it backwards is sadly all too common. My sunscreen guru and mildly obsessive spf advocate Dr Dray has a video on this misconception.

I don't know Susan personally, but just wanted to write something on her behalf. For the people who always comment about how Susan/any other beauty channel has partnered with Sephora (or when anyone partners with anyone), it's nothing earth-shattering. They get some amount of incentive which I don't see anything wrong with. After all, we all love it when these same channels/people give us discount codes and so much free information gained through years of experience/study. There is nothing wrong with earning money through your area of expertise. It's how we make a living right? She is in the beauty industry, her expertise is in this particular area and Sephora has beauty products. Susan can't really go partner with a goat farmer suddenly and start giving us goat videos right?? Maybe she could hehehe, as goat milk has amazing properties and used in sensitive skin products. Anyways joke aside, the only thing I wanted to say was - You DON'T need to buy anything she mentions from Sephora. Or from any of her links, if you don't want to. If you want to try but don't want Susan to get any percentage of the sale, you can simply buy from the products official store online/offline. Or any other store that sells these stuff. Like Amazon or tons of other beauty stores. And there are several drugstore brand recommendations on youtube too. Most beauty channels (including this)/Dermatologists channels always generally have both the high end and drugstore/dupe product recommendation videos, be it makeup or skincare. C'mon people, don't be petty please!

Hey, Susan! I get regular acne breakouts and folliculitis around my beard. Do you think I should still put on moisturiser and SPF on my beard on top of my salicylic serum? Have you got any tips on getting rid of ingrown hairs/folliculitis on the beard area other than salicylic and retinoids? They don’t seem to be working much on my problem areas :( I’m from Singapore. I don’t know if you’ve been to Singapore or Southeast Asia, but the heat and HUMIDITY here are on some next level shit. So most of the time I don’t feel the need to put on moisturiser at all during the day and just go straight to my SPF. My skin feels hydrated enough throughout the day as I’m constantly sweaty anyway in Singapore. I only put on a gel moisturiser at night on top of my salicylic serum or retinoid serum. Do you think that this is an okay thing to do?

Hey, am not Susan hehe. But I think you need a BHA. Something like Cosrx BHA toner. Your beard hair pores seem to be getting clogged and inflamed I think due to the constant sweating. Which is causing folliculitis. Also maybe your sunscreen is too thick? Maybe you can try to clean your face gently during the day once or twice. Rather than only morning and night. Also the AC indoors maybe the culprit either in hot or cold weather. Try to have a humidifier in the room. Just a few suggestions.

Does anyone know what Susan's opinion on makeup remover tools is? Like the Makeup Eraser or Face Halo. Honestly, since I've started using Face Halo as my makeup remover, I don't feel the need to double cleanse. I just remove the makeup with it, and use some kind of gel cleanser after (and my washcloth comes out cleaner than ever), but I would love to know what she thinks

I think the point is more that many regular cleansers don't do a good job of totally removing makeup. My only concern with the Makeup Eraser and similar products is that it could be rough on the skin but I suppose if you are very gentle when removing and follow with a regular cleanse it could probably replace an oil cleanser for your first cleanse. I actually just got a Makeup Eraser for a reusable wipe for when I've got stubborn waterproof eyeliner or mascara that even my double cleanse misses. And for on the go so I don't have to buy makeup wipes.

how would you apply spf? Would you recommend mixing it with your moisturizer?
@hitthefries

Not Susan but don't do it. You want to have the spf to be evenly layered and mixing it will prevent this

So the Retinol portion is only for night time correct?! And my husband has dry skin and sometimes it is a little flaky, would he be able to benefit from this options as well? And also, thank you for all the amazing videos and knowledge that you share! 😘

Yanick Diniz I know I’m not Susan but retinol only at nighttime - correct!! Cell turnover occurs at night so it’s the best time for your skin to do its thing with your skincare. Retinol also makes the skin sensitive to the sun so that’s also why nighttime is best.

Susan, try the Skin Actives C serum! It’s $18 on their website and very well formulated similar to the Skincueticals and C Firma ones. I also love their Alpha Beta Exfoliant Solution, its a wash off mask like the DE Sakura Babyfacial with around 11% lactic acid and 5% salicylic acid and it’s the only BHA I can really use that’s effective enough to unclog my skin without being drying. Have you tested the Inkey List? Would love to see a review

Im using a chemical exfoliant with BHA (salicylic acid) then use the Sunday Riley Vitamin C serum right after. Is it really okay?

That’s not completely true. It’s a trend in that it has been made a trend by white people. Dream catchers were a trend in the 90s. That doesn’t mean they didn’t exist before. I problematize this trend not to deride Eastern cultures but to call into question the appropriative ways white people exploit the fetishization of Korean skincare

My favorite gel cleanser is Drunk Elephant Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser and it’s at Sephora. I got it for my birthday gift and it did some serious magic on my skin. It’s super gentle and doesn’t strip my natural oils, but it’s helped with my clogged pores and even smoothed out some of the bad texture I have on my cheeks & chin. It has glycerin too so the texture is really nice and it’s hydrating. I honestly recommend it for anyone with any skin type because it’s so gentle and straightforward, but really does an amazing job. It’s $32 for 150mL which I also think is a great price for the amount of product.
