Thanks so much. Ivy is a fabulous plant for wildlife - insects and birds. If you need to trim it the best time is in spring, after the birds have had all the berries they want and before they start nesting.

Good Morning Isobel, congratulations on the first anniversary of KZitem. It is always a pleasure to watch you ramble through your patch and see what's happening. I then relate to my own place and how things are progressing or not. The content you provide is so relevant, its a joy whilst enjoying my morning coffee. Thank you for sharing, please keep up the service. 🐞🌻🌱

Morning and thanks so much. It feels like quite an achievement. I will keep going, but not much will be happening over the winter and I`m sure there is a limit to how many videos of my garden in the rain people will want to watch! I`ll be posting once a month anyway and if there is anything else interesting going on I`ll put extra ones in. Thanks for watching and for all your support.

I too have spent my summer changing my attitude. We are in the third year of "extreme drought". What i watered mostly died and the plants that thrived are older daylilies and native plants. I'm learning to let go and see what happens, and be grateful.

Yes, I think we will all have to change. People can`t garden in the way they always have when the weather is so unpredictable. I think learning to let go and see what happens and be grateful is the best way. Thanks.

It's always a joy to follow you around your beautiful and interesting garden. Isn't it strange how we have learned through our upbringings what to see as beautiful and what as ugly and suddenly this view can change and we can see the beauty for nature in all growths and all stages? After the wettest summer ever here in Bergen, Norway (over 400 mm rain only in August!) the insects and butterflies are back in the September-sun in my garden too. I will miss your weekly updates, but are looking forward to your October tour.

I`m glad you like visiting my garden. I wish more people could change how they see beauty in nature and embrace wildness. I think we are now reaping the results of being too neat and tidy for so long with the loss of so much wildlife. Thanks for watching.

We have not seen any actual “butterflies” here except cabbage whites 😢. Although I am happy to say we have seen loads of bees 🐝. As progress takes hold of more and more areas the insects are the first to be affected. Here we have bears and big cats that are seen more and more in the city as their wooded habits are being developed. Yiu are doing an amazing job of helping these creatures Isabel ❤, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦

Hi Ali, yes, insets are an indicator of what is happening to wildlife as a whole. The effect goes up the food chain and eventually affects the ones at the top - your bears and cats. There are no top predators in the UK -they became extinct hundreds of years ago. I hope the same doesn`t happen in Canada.

Hello Isabel, first what an uplifting year your videos have made. Being able to follow your journey as made a huge difference to the way i look at my garden, I am now back home after visiting my family in Lincolnshire a 600 mile drive each way. I think i have just about caught up with everything including your videos. I bought a number of native wild flower seeds and i have about a 4 square metre area to work on, your work on your lawn area helped. Thanks again for the inspiration your past year as given me. Take care and stay safe. Bryan fae Orkney.

Thanks Bryan. I`m so glad you have enjoyed watching my videos. It`s good to hear you are back home safe with plans for next year in your garden. I think the secret with growing wildflowers is to see what grows nearby, because a lot of wild flowers won`t be suitable. I visited a wildflower nursery at the weekend near Swansea and they collect seed from the local area. Good luck with your new wildflower patch.

I'm also trying to plant native for insects and birds. When I moved here 28 years ago the garden was all non native and many were invasive. I've been working the past 6 to 7 years to pull all invasive out and many of the non natives. I work on these changes in winter because here in Florida it's just too hot and humid to do that hard work in the garden in summer. So I'll be back at it in November. I so enjoy your channel and hope you have a wonderful autumn. Keep up the goodchanges!

That`s great to hear. I think there is more of a movement towards having native plants in your garden in the US than there is in the UK. Here it is very unusual. I`m glad you enjoy the videos. Thanks for watching.

Hello again Veronica. Me neither. Yellow Brimstone is usually a spring butterfly isn`t it - one of the first. Just another result of our weird weather at the moment. I hope nature can adapt.

Dear Isabel, congratulations on your canal birthday. 🎊You have changed so much for the good of nature!!! Wonderful, that Colette recommended your channel. In which of her videos can we see that? I hope you have gained some subscribers through me too. However, I don't think many people from Germany will write you a comment, translating into English is too difficult for many. But you're sure to get likes...😀

Hello Gabi, Thanks, it does feel like quite an achievement. Colette recommended my channel in a post on the community part of her channel. It`s something I don`t use. She has a lot of followers and so a number watched my videos and have subscribed. I do have some followers in Germany, I think some of them came through you. Thanks you so much for watching and for your support.

Messy looks good to me. Predators always take longer to establish in a garden because the prey has to establish first. The more prey, the more predators, eventually.

@@mywildwelshgarden-es3fr This year, the biggest changes I've seen, have been the number of small birds and insect predators has gone through the roof. Unfortunately the number of butterflies was nearly zero. Bees were plentiful though. I'll be watching to see if they rebound next year. Pob lwc.
