Hi ITB fanatics. I recommend selecting the highest quality resolution you can to also get the best sound quality. I made this video so people can see what driving with this kit is like, not just at WOT but all other conditions. Also, the car has a lot of new modifications that im getting used to and dialing in, so i cannot comfortably drive fast on these extrememy undulating roads. The thing that most suprises me about this kit is that it seems so tuned to maximize resonance at 5-6k. It seems choked above that. Also, there is always some noise, but it's not annoying like exhaust drone. One of the supposed advantages of ITBs is better throttle response, but it seems like the aftermarket unit that is installed to actuate the ITBs is slower to resond than the stock unit, so ive had to relearn pedal control. Also, its almost impossoble to fit their filter on a LHD car, so im running no filter, which is scary. Ive seen comments that getting it set up to drive nicely around town is difficult, but i find it to move around town as easy as stock. The only issue i currently have is what feels like a light misfire at idle, so i probably need to tighten up some vacuum hose. I'm also wondering what sort of power gains could be had when matching with some big BC cams with upgraded springs (vs the relatively mild upgraded cam here) and maybe even the 2" header. Then get the head ported and polished...idk where that all gets you! Lastly, good luck working with BBR GTI, I wouldn't recommend them for this kit. Ordering the kit was no problem, but getting anything beyond the base tune took them 6 months to respond.

I cannot thank you enough for all the information you've given about the ITBs. You're about the only person on this continent I've seen talking about them. Based on what you've said, I've decided not to pursue the kit, and instead focus on either traditional NA tuning, or go full tilt with a Rotrex supercharger. I really wanted that intake sound, but it seems like that's just not in the cards with BBR. What I desperately don't want is for my NC to be out of commission due to someone not answering the phone, for a slow-reacting e-throttle, and for a choked top-end. I want my Miata's engine to feel as close as I can get to a rotary-valve 2-stroke. God's engine.

I had similar experiences. BBR was a nightmare to deal with and I'm still running base tune. Neil outright refused to do any revisions even though it was their fault for taking forever to reply...basically said, it's been too long since I purchased the tune and they can't help me anymore. Kind of shocked at their horrible service but whatever, my car is running with 2 CEL's , 1 is for AFR and another for EGR. No other issues though. At low RPM's, the car feels bogged down, I'm definitely running rich , exhaust is black.. I could have gone with 2.5 Engine swap, I would recommend that to others. Tuning these ITB's without BBR's help is a nightmare and BBR is a nightmare to deal with so I would count these ITB's out for anyone looking to purchase. I'll keep driving on them until I run into some issues, then do the 2.5 Swap or something else.

@@mrm1712Thanks for your input and warning to the rest of us. It sounds like a product that probably shouldn't be made commercially available in this current state. What a shame. Because the sound is intoxicating

Oh this is nice. Ive been looking at these parts for a while and i wanted to just see some driving with it. Have you had any reliability issues? Also, did you order the parts and had them shipped to you? I live in US and was wondering if i could order the parts and hire my tuning shop to install them for me. Beautiful car!!!

Yep just order the kit, or whatever individual parts you want. I'd think you want to at least buy their base map to get it running. It doesn't run perfectly, it's making less power than it should, but it starts every time.

Dumb question but... Is it obnoxiously loud? I am asking because sometimes I do longer highway trips (assume 85-90 mph is my cruising speed). I really love the sound of ITB, however I am afraid this would have literally "rape" my ears. I am having almost stock NCFL. Noise-wise, it only has I.L. motorsport axle-back exhaust (I.L. motorsport has a reputation of being loud but having nice tone) and drop-in, reusable K&N air filter (the one need uses "red" oil in order to service it). Because of annoying drone (a bit above 2.5k rpm) I am thinking about getting quiteter Roadstersport Super Q exhaust (more sporty sound than stock exhaust, seemingly having good flows, while relatively quiet) - while on the same side, I wish to have nice intake sounds. Btw, what makes the filter installation difficult on LHD variant?

The brake booster is in the way of thr filter. Anyway, of course it will be loud at 90mph because an electric miata would be loud at 90 mph 🤣. Anything above 70-75 mph, the throttle will be open enough that you will hear significant intake sound. The higher the load, the more open the throttle, and so the louder the sound. Its relatively loudest if youre puttering around town at high load since that makes the engine loud but you dont have wind and tire noise drowning it out. It's quiet if youre barely pressing the throttle, even at 5000 rpm.

How you finding the ITBs? I was booked in to BBR in the UK in July this year to have the 225 kit installed but they cancelled it the day before as they didn't have the parts from their supplier which they must have known about. They've gone quiet about getting me booked back in so not sure if I'll go for it anymore as they are not the best at communicating. Already have their Super 200 kit so paying a lot for the ITB noise effectively unless you can tell me there is a huge difference in response? Can't imagine I'd really notice any performance difference with torque being very similar and power curve so linear.

I wouldn't count on better response. The replacement throttle actuator seems slow to respond compared to the stock one. I would wait for the fab9 intake plenum to be available. Should give more noise and power with no compromise.

@@mitchellsteindlerhaven't heard about the fab9 intake. You not pleased with the BBR Setup then. Sounds great. Disappointing if response has been lost though. Standard setup already feels quite responsive in mine.

@becauseiwasinverted7971 for the most part, it does exactly what I want and I really enjoy it. It's just not perfect. Thr fab9 intake is still in prototype form and really designed for 2.5L since the stock intake is a restriction on those cars. However a really highly built 2.0 would also benefit.

Cool kit. But after seeing a few full throttle sections, it's laughable that BBR calls this kit "220". An ND2 would pull a bus length on this from a dig. This is making 170-180 crank at most. Followed this kit closely when units started shipping to the US 2-3yrs ago. Sucks it didn't really pan out for LHD cars.
@mitchellsteindler

It's about 180 crank. I'll be looking into why next year. I have to imagine it just needs a better tune. Just cams should give that power level let alone catless header and itbs
