Depending on how long the respective turn signal momentary push-button is activated, 4 different operating modes are available: a) Change of lane: Short tap on push-button - blink 3x and automatic switch-off b) Turn: Pressing push-button shortly - blink 10x and automatic switch-off c) Continuous flashing: Pressing push-button longer - switches off only after pressing the push-button repeatedly d) The m-Relay+ is equipped with a hazard flasher function - activated by pressing both push-buttons simultaneously

Switch to this mode We will be able to connect to the ws2812b light control box via bluetooth to show the effects. Both of these modes can be changed by pressing the switch. Please advise me, thank you very much.

Thanks! Nope, i don't think that's a good idea to power the leds from one usb, this sketch from the clip can take a maximum of 3 Amps... (with all leds to white can take a maximum of 4.5 Amps) You will be beter of with a step down converter from your main voltage.

Thanks! Well, i don't know any digital leds of 1w to exist and the 3w ones are to expensive, bulky and to powerful... www.adafruit.com/product/2741 and to build this example with regular leds it will a messy job with lots of wires and mosfets ... But, if you do some calculations for only one signal in this example which contains 10 leds you have 10 * 0.060mA = 0.600mA * 5v = 3w of consumed power, so the emitted light should be a little bit higher, because of the efficiency of the leds in general. I think i will get my self a light meter and test this claim... because now i'm really curious! :)

I'm planning on modding my car headlights so I'm really really thankful that you shared this project. I don't know much about electronics so I'm wondering if there should be a modification in the schematics if I increase the number of leds. For example, I'd like to put 30 leds x 4 strips = 120 leds for the front/rear signal lights + big strip composed of 70 leds = total of 190 leds overall. I will be using the white color most of the time so I guess that will consume more wattage? Also, where do I connect the switches to my car? (I suppose that's where the optocouplers are used but I'm not sure). If it is, do I need to put one optocoupler per switch? And lastly, what step down power supply should I use if I will be powering it up from the car battery which is 12v-14v? Thank you so much! Your answer will save me a lot of time.
@IonutFedaceag
4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can increase the number of leds in this sketch, but the big strip should have the number of leds in the small strip x 3, this means that the big strip should have 30 x 3 = 90 leds. You could try with 70leds, but i think that the math in the sketch will crash. Yes, it will consume more when you increase the number of leds. For 190 leds x 0.060 mAmps you will have 11.4 Amps if you light them up all white at full brightness (each color will consume 0.020 mAmps), but in the car setup i don't think that you will have a scenario with them all white at full brightness. For taking the signal from the car, you will use optocouplers and if your car has enabled bulb checking to see if the bulb it's burnout, you will also need a resistor in parallel with the optocoupler to simulate the bulb. For the step down converter, you will need something that will step down from 15v to 5v and support the current of all leds. With pleasure! ;)
@Fjutcha

Thank you so much... I will try it at the weekend 👌🏻😄 But one question. If I would use it on my Bike couldnt I just use standart 18650 Batterys to reach close to 5 V and let the Arduino step down to 5? Cause the Arduino Uno can take up to 9V i think. Hes stepping the rest down I belive.
@IonutFedaceag
4 жыл бұрын
With pleasure... ;) From my opinion, you shouldn't use the internal voltage regulator of the arduino, because is not to efficient ! You still need a step-down buck converter for the leds, so power the arduino from the 5v of the step-down buck converter and in this way you are able to use even four li-ion cells. From my knowledge, li-ion 18650 batteries have a safe min voltage of 3.4v and a safe max voltage of 4.1v... so you can use 3 or 4 cells to have a decent battery life. With 3 cells you will have a min voltage of 10.2v and a max voltage of 12.3v and with 4 cells you will have a min voltage of 13.6v and a max voltage of 16.4v, so you must decide how many cells you use and search a step-down buck converter that has high efficiency between your min voltage and max voltage. Don't forget to include some protection for over discharging the cells if you want them to have a long life...

After little thinking, you have to write function from scratch. Divide the entire number of led's into equal number of groups, after that you can use the beatsin16 function and provide it the number of groups (not the number of leds) to go forward and backward and use fill_gradient function to acces the led's in groups... (don't forget to add the fadeToBlackBy).

Alternatively, I edited the code to have a wider eye rather than one at a time, but the animation still isn't completing quick enough. Here are the two versions of code I tried. @@IonutFedaceag so if i am using only a strip of 16 i replace the 50 to 16?

Well, i've tried to write the sketch as dynamically as possible, but if you open the sketch you will see that in the comments i've specified... // number of leds for the big strip - should be the at least the number of leds from the small strips multiply by tree (in this case the minimum should be 10 x 3 = 30 leds) So the big strip should be minimum 30 leds !

How to use ws2812b 8x8 matrix in this project
@IonutFedaceag
4 жыл бұрын
When you use a matrix, you need to think using groups of leds, frame per frame... For a 8x8 matrix you will have 8 frames in a given amount of time, so each frame, you will light up a max of 8 groups of leds... I wanted to do a smart road light signal for some time and that will explain just that... I will do it as soon as i have some free time...

I would like to fund your next video. Im currently building a custom motorcycle and I love the idea of a procedural tail light. It would be a single piece 160mm x 160mm with rounded corners on top. RGB lights so you can use the ws2812 lights. The issue I have is that i don't know how to program nor do I know where to put resistors or 12 volt or 5 volt. I can send more detailed info if you're interested but I would like a unit with minimal effort that's legal and usable for $100 USD. If you're willing to add animations and maybe stream line so I can play with animations later on I would offer $150 USD. Not including shipping to atlanta Georgia United States.

Well it would be interesting, but I definitely need more info. Just to know, i only do the code and the basic schematic, because i don't have to much time available and almost 90% of the time, the final version will need minor modification or adaptations in the final assembly. The basic schematic will include almost everything you will need to get started. Right now i'm working at the lights for a prototype car, so in almost one month we can do it if everything it's ok.

i really need your help!! how to make it wireless? i know its possible i just dont know how to do it having input from motorcycle using transmitter sending the signal to the receiver connected to the arduino uno. btw your videos really helps a lot tho 😍

Those lights are there for safety reason and will save your live! Wireless communications are not 100% reliable, they depend on the environment that you are using them ... any wireless signal can be jammed with anyone's will or without will... Way would you want to make them wireless ? Do you want to use them for your helmet?

@@IonutFedaceag exactly! like those on the market. i'm trying to solve the wireless part of the device, so yeah definitely.

I don't think that bluetooth will be the answer for this project... but i won't rule it out completely... My first choice will be RF, like H34A-433 for TX and LR45A for the TX in combination with RadioHead library... because for a powered battery project you will need to keep the power consumption at the minimum. In the communication you can set an id and after that the command you want to send, the id is making sure that more than one device can work in the same area.
