Lindsay is one of the greatest ball striker I have ever seen, but also the slowest grand slam champion I have ever seen...

I was shocked when I saw her play live cause on tv she looked like she didn't ever run but in person she looked fast but slower than Mauresmo (who she was playing)

Venus made her pay in the final though, sisterly revenge. 👏🏽

Always felt Serena didn’t hit the ball as clean from 2000-2001 up until US open 2001 where she hit the ball a lot cleaner with good pace. 2000-2001 she kind of used her athleticism to muscle the ball without focusing on hitting the ball cleanly in the middle of the strings.

Looking that first set numbers it is really hard to understand how Davenport managed could have won it

Lindsay was great in almost every category of the game. But her movement smh. She was sloooooooow
@Rune8119

She didn’t really need to be that fast . Her ground strokes and her serve were doing enough damage on the opponent side.

True, but the quality of her ball striking meant that only the elite players could take advantage.

Davenport won this match by a fairly convincing 6-4 6-2 score, yet these "highlights" show Williams winning 33 of the 55 points edited!

It's because Serena made a lot of errors, and highlights don't usually include errors.

@@Nirky Serena hit a lot of unforced errors in this match and Lindsay was focused to push Serena into errors more than hitting winners by herself. Reason why there’s more winners from Serena than Davenport.

Yeah, this was a match with a lot of beautiful winners, but also some HORRENDOUS unforced errors (that didn't make it into the highlight reel.)

Women’s tennis is still missing this! An Era where bankable stars could be counted on to show up and at least reach a Grand Slam QF & give fans high quality befitting a final.

I watched this match live. Specifically I remembered the point whereas Lindsey was barely moving, sending over the net those powerful forehands while Serena looked as though she was in a video game. Whew, the second set was clinical. The good ole 2000’s 😊.

Lindsay got the best of Serena here… Not that many players had the ability to overpower Serena

Alot of people talking about lindsays slowness being her weakness,but in reality it was her mentality. She got down on herself so easily

I mean there is no denying Serena and Lindsay are amazing players in thier own rights but for me this was the era when tennis got a bit boring as it was just short rallies due to the players just being heavy baseline players. I know some people like that but I love more technical play and longer points. This is mainly big serve,heavy ground stroke, possible return and then next point.
