This is from my first faculty recital, as part of the Masterful Keys Virtuoso Piano Concert Series at University of La Verne. I lovingly called the recital "Alotta Toccatas" because I played a lot...of Toccatas.

Sergei Rachmaninoff (1873 - 1943) was another popular Russian composer. He is representative of late Romantic Music, with early influences from Rimsky-Korsakov and Tchaikovsky. This sonata is a pinnacle for chamber music, with strenuous and tedious demands from the pianist. Given that the Six Moments-Musicaux (Op. 16), the 2nd Piano Concerto (Op. 18), and the Sonata for Cello and Piano (Op. 19) are similar opus numbers, similar, but dreadful passages plague each work. Rachmaninoff's dense writing elevates the pianist's role from "accompanist" to "pianist."
In this iteration, I am happy to welcome my friend, colleague, and recital partner, saxophonist Dr. Andrew Harrison to the stage! Together, we form Duo Halo. Please check us out at duohalo.com!
