I'm 80 and have heard some great ones but this gentleman takes the prize. My thanks to the one that posted this. Merry Christmas to all!

Brilliant. The reason I love this man's playing is that of all the trumpeters who have wonderful technique these days, this guy plays with great musicality. It sounds like music, not just a show-off piece. And he plays it like a trumpet, not like a cornet. A live performance so you can forgive the odd fluff. Thanks for posting.

Thanks to anyone who posts all of these Sergei videos! There were three other ones on here about five months ago that were very good. One was an interview of him.

Lovely ! Marsalis and Nakariakov are different men and, as so, will play differently and beautifully, each one in his style and spirit.

Most trumpet players in the know agree that Sergei is quite possibly the best trumpet player who has ever lived and may be the best who will every live. Listen to his album 'No Limit' -- end of story. He has an unreal control over his sound, color, range etc. He is astonishing the finest trumpet artists the world over.

Beautiful, virtuosic and maybe rushed at the ends of phrases in my opinion, but I love his playing! The fifth variation is a very fine example of making a very difficult piece of music sound incredibly easy. Thank you once again Sergei! Jason

he has an iteresting interperetation but very good, definately one of the best, and he's one of the best trumpet players ever. However, Winton's version of this songs is the best ever. .........but Sergei's moto perpetuo shows his real skill!

@charvinaldo there are many different interpretations of every song that is out there and no single interpretation is the "best" its all about the listener's perspective. As one might say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"

IMO playing his horn upside down is the only thing where Zoot has the advantage over Nakariakov. I do think Nakariakov is a little cleaner than Vizzuti though

crappy sound in this video, listen the applauses. I think I found only 1 (minor) mistake, and this is live-recording of very hard piece. Sergeis virtuosity, intonation and tone are something unique. I think there won't be any trumpeter like him.

BS. This is a live performance, not a recording. Of course, if you listen to recordings, they will be flawless, but how many interprets are going to play that piece live at the right tempo totally flawlessly every time from beginning to end? Not one.
