Something has got to be done about the trucks on our roads. It is absolutely unacceptable the amount of damage and loss of lives they are responsible for. They are wrecking havoc and urgent and serious action has got to be taken

The roads have become death traps with all these trucks, will you PLEASE sort out the goddam rail system, people are becoming too scared to even venture out nowadays, and it's a damn disgrace the rate of decline in this country!!!!

Hi there. This is just my observation.... In general, that stretch of road (in both directions) needs to have some kind of speed mitigation. Also, that sharp bend at the bottom (also both directions) increases the danger of vehicles losing control, especially if traffic is slow trying to join or exit the M4. The other issue these days is that the green areas alongside our roads are very rarely maintained/ cleared to increase visibility, especially in those spots where you have to exit or join another road increasing the danger of collisions. Road maintenance and road infrastructure is also something that is crumbling in this country together with everything else that the state is responsible/ accountable for. This has major impacts, especially in our smaller towns where road transport is key to the economy of that area/ region. I'm also starting to question the quality of road maintenance work completed. For example pot holes in the MtEdgecombe area are filled today, and within a week, or even after a slight rain, is back to it's original state of decay, further increasing the risk to the safety of all road users as it almost takes drivers by surprise having to make evasive/ corrective maneuvers or sustain major damage to the vehicle itself (where is the quality control to ensure the maintenance work is completed to the correct standard?) The major highway intersections near the Gateway Mall that was recently completed has been robbed of all lighting and still has no lighting to date. This is very dangerous at night because even with your car headlights on the highbeam setting, is still very inadequate visibility for all road users. Considering that the Gateway Mall is a major attraction to people from all parts of the world, it is very embarrassing for us not to have that major intersection adequately lit up at night.

It is sickning to see how trucks race past you on the freeways.Recently I was on the N2 northbound and witnessed trucks racing past me,no cops in sight.Traffic laws for truck driving need to be tightened even further.

I own trucks and I even drive one of trucks quiet often, yes on that n2 construction, guys with new trucks, fly down,my drivers and I try and avoid the n2,cos I have trucks that are carrying heavy loads, hence not much speed and when these guys overtake us,they straddle with the back of there trailers, into our trucks, those superfine trucks, once they overtake u,they forget that after correcting the truck, the back will also do the same.Trucks are going down at over 100kmh down there,it's ridiculous

The trucks are a menace! They are insane, bad drivers for the most part. The logistics companies clearly dont care, and construction trucks are even worse often enough! Apparently this dude driver has gapped it, but lets see. So over this! We avoid the highways now to stay somewhat safe - but trucks also use and abuse the side roads, and are largely responsible for many of the potholes. We live in a farmy area and regularly have trucks taking a wrong turn and ending up stuck on our property, breaking fences, gates and the road - and the logistics companies lie and promise to pay, they never do. the only time we had joy was when we locked a truck in and demanded payment like mafia style! Every day on key ridge, trucks get into race mode, and overtake, almost kill people and there are NEVER cops around - they are always on the small roads, fining people for broken indicators!

Hello good morning hearing to the news reporters report on this accident, again we here it's a truck 🚛 involved and caused this carnage on the road, so my say if it's true that the driver of the truck was speeding, this again is continuous and ongoing thing about trucks and the in competent driver that's steering that vehicle ,this problem must be seriously dealt with this is ongoing, if the driver of that vehicle is competent to sit behind that steering wheel he or she must not be in that seat, thank you my honest opinion

Who said foreigners thou ?there is a huge difference between the two words I stand firmly by saying that alot of companies they do get rid of qualified people over the years they have retreched so many and replaced them with inexperienced workers coz pay is cheaper I suppose ... I mean look at the boksburg accident he was an inexperienced driver and u can't disagree coz when passing out with any type of license you should know especially as a truck driver you should know what you transporting the height and danger but he didn't and I don't even drive trucks but im aware of the sinage on all bridges that gives warning of height If he knew what his carrying of he were experienced he would have know that this is going to blow due to compression and pressure It's sad how lives are lost and they endangering themselves as well coz they so unknown and others but what can we do this is SA
