I can see the pitching and falling of the ship all throughout the video and I love that he is able to manage it. My service dog is very well trained and it's hard to keep ppl away from him they always want to pet him and I am terrified to take him on a cruise just because of how many ppl that might cause him anxiety

Thank you for the information, things I would never have thought of. I am an epileptic, my dog Baloo is a seizure alert dog and for me freedom. I don’t drive without him in the car and rarely even walk around the block without him at my side. It’s truly sad to listen to how you were treated by both the cruise line and other passengers. I’m sure you would be happier to not need a service dog, I love my dog but it was never part of my life plan. That changed in 2017 and has been a very harsh reality to live with from that day. I don’t believe I would be willing to subject my dog, a living thing whose only mission is to protect me to that kind of misery. Thank you and on Baloo’s name you’ve done all of us who have to live with issues that make a dog the only reasonable choice a service

Lets be honest here, most service dogs are really just pets and people just want their pet with them. A person in actual need of a service dog nearly always have them professionally trained and screened. Yes, you can screen a service dog at home if you know how but a dog that barks all the time like this lady spoke about is not a service dog, it was a pet. Service dogs do not bark, do not bite, are well behaved, etc. A person who brings a pet onboard is totally inconsiderate of others, What about people that are allergic to pets and have to walk away from a dog because someone brings a pet to a public place? Yes, I too am allergic to dogs but I still love them and own them but I do NOT take them to public places and lie about them being a service dog.

Thank you so much for this!! My kiddo has a service dog and she's bulletproof, but I still plan to do prep training to keep her tuck tight etc. Did you have "do not pet " patches on your pup? I know that won't prevent everyone, and we're used to tight spaces with a ton of excited dance competition kids, fireworks, but I'll use whatever i can to reduce her distractions so we stay safe.

Great video!! I’m taking my SD on a cruise next month - RCCL’s Allure of the Seas. Just getting the paperwork and permits in order has been incredibly stressful; it’s impossible to get a straight answer from anyone about what is needed. Your suggestions were fantastic -potty pads in the case of an accident, what a great idea! Did you try to bring any raw food for your boy? I feed 100% raw as my girl doesn’t do well on kibble. Do you think I will be able to bring raw chicken for her to eat on board with me? The last thing I want to deal with is diarrhea and vomiting from changing her diet! What ports did your cruise stop at?

Royal Carribean has a mini fridge in the cabin. Might not be big enough depending on the size of your pup. Can your dog eat dehydrated raw food you can rehydrate with water?

I'm not sure on raw meat due to customs and the USDA. They most likely will deny it, but they wont deny dehydrated packaged food. Call the USDA to be sure

Traveling with service and guide dogs is changing, you need to watch your CDC guidelines and USDA requirements for importing exporting of a dog even though it’s a service dog.

Our bucket list is to go on a cruise. My SD is used to all the loud noises & kids running by because she teaches youth group with me. Noise & crowds she’s golden with. But do you have suggestions on the movement of the boat? I’d rather test her out & train her for it ahead of time so we both can enjoy our vacation. Also any extra tips on keep her cool outside of cooling bandanas (I’ve got a heat intolerance so we probably won’t be poolside 24/7)

dani thanks for your help, can I ask some questions? Like if you didn’t get off the ship do you still need the international health certificate for each country?

just put a deposit on a 10 day cruise SF to Mexican Riviera on Ruby Princess. Awaiting approval for my 16 year old daughter's service dog. My daughter has cerebral palsy, so I don't think we can go if her service dog is not approved. How long did it take you (anyone else) to get approved?

Hi! I’m going on a carnival cruise to Jamaica, Cayman Islands, and Mexico with my service dog. Could you possibly go into more details about having to message the countries

According to this video, and the rules I’ve been able to read on each cruise line’s website, you are not allowed to leave your service dog in your cabin unattended.
