Seshat is well recorded in surviving ancient texts from the Palermo Stone, Pyramid Texts and the Coffin Texts/Book of the Dead that emerged from the Pyramid Texts.
Seshat was the female equivalent of Thoth. The goddess of knowledge she was the one most connected to the keeping of scientific and historical records as far back as the ancient records survive.
All but overtaken by Thoth it was Seshat who actually did the bulk of the work. Keeping the history and participating in crucial ceremonies such as "Stretching the Cord" at the foundation of new temples.
Much like Khepri- God of the Rising Sun- she has no temples dedicated to her.
From the oldest to the latest records Sheshat was the keeper of secrets. Putting the knowledge into permanence by writing it down, the Goddess of Scribes and Librarian of Egypt.

Sehshat - Ancient Egyptian Bureaucracy & Administration
King Narmer at 3100 BC is officially recognised as the first to unite Upper and Lower Egypt. Creating a large nation requiring a massive and sophisticated bureaucracy. Although not very sexy these boring administrative details are vital in understanding, or at least asking, the bigger questions.
