Welcome to session 5 in my All About Bees ‘Queen Rearing and Selection video series. In this final session I will be covering in detail the use of Apidea mini mating hives and I will show you the system I used for many years of rearing queens in a queenright colony. This is a more complex system than the Miller method and involves grafting larvae from a breeder colony to a frame that is then placed into a strong cell raiser colony. The beauty of this system is that it allows you to raise as many queens as you want to. I used to raise about 100 queens using this method and I used lots of apideas to get the queens mated.
