So first of all I am 16 years old and I think for very little kids should have limits and restrictions to keep them well and safe. My question is how do you verify your child doesn’t know there screen time passcode considering it’s on there device or they can reset it? Is there a special way a parent can make sure a child doesn’t know the passcode

Hi, thank you for this great video! I just set up parental controls on my 8 year old son's iPad. But now I want to download the Netflix app for him on the Ipad. I already set up pin codes for our adult accounts, so he can just watch his kids Netflix account. But the iPad is not letting me download Netflix. How can I do this?

For teens screen time does only make sense if they are aware of their addiction and see this as helpful. Otherwise it induces pressure and causes conflicts between the teen and the parents. When I was a teen, my mom gave me unlimited access but I could also control my media consumption properly. When I was a student, I wrote my thesis during night time, which caused also problems with my sleeping behavior. Now, I'm in my mid 20s and I have to use features like screen time to control my addiction. I don't want to become a manteen and I guess I have to apply even stricter limits for myself. Greetings from Germany!

Hello, I want to set up Family sharing so that I can control my son's ipad. But his Ipad services is different then mine. He has it under my husbands account which is T-mobile and I have Verizon on my cell phone. But on my cell phone under settings Family I see my son's name as age and then another one under organizer. So I don't know who or if I can set it up. Can you help?

Many thanks. If my apple ID and kid's IDs are same (in the kid's device), will it work properly? I mean, can kids change the control of the screen time setting?
@PeacefulPlay

My understanding is that if your kids have the password to your Apple ID they could figure out how to go in and change settings, yes, but I would make a trip or phone call to Apple to confirm.

First of all, thanks very much for the video! I have three kids as well, and want to set this up. I would like to share my personal iPad with them, but how does the iPad know which child is using it? Do I have to logout of my iPad everytime I want to track screentime for one of them? TIA

Is there a way that you can control from your phone of kids iPad like if they are on KZitem watching , and you can turn the app off, or if they are playing any game to turn it off , instead of putting time limit like 2 hours or so, and also parental control KZitem also plz
@PeacefulPlay

Parents can turn off wifi or turn off access based on time limits, but as far as I know, they can't be inside the app at the same time on another device and "turn it off."

As a young adult myself, (19) I can remember as a child how much I hated limits on the internet, and devices, like screen time. I would say that 14 is nearing the age where she should understand that you shouldn't stay on your phone for like 10 hours a day, instead of doing homework. It all depends on the child. I always found ways around it, and it personally made me miserable, above age 12. However, if you're asking about limiting the phone usage entirely. I think 14 is too old. But, if you're talking about bedtime usage, if she stays on her phone late and is tired the next day for school, then I think that's okay.

I have 7 year old twins. They get 3 hours a day iPad time during the school week. The weekends is more. But we always take breaks and play outside. Limiting iPad time is a great negotiation tool for my kids to behave. They have been grounded for 1-2 weeks no device time. They will go the extra mile or I tell them if they do their homework and behave etc I will give them an extra hour. It works. I see kids who rarely get device time act up because their friends get lots of it. When my kids were toddlers I would never be on my phone while they played. It drove me nuts when parents were taking to other adults and on their phone while their kids fell off the playground or got hurt.
@PeacefulPlay

That's interesting you've seen kids act up because their friends are getting more device time. We've never seen that in our time. It sounds like your way works for you and your family and you have rules that work for you. That's wonderful you've given thought and attention to making a plan. In Covid-times - our screen time has increased but the kids are doing work and school Zooms so I get it!

It’s funny how kids end up watching this video to find workarounds and end up commenting how unfair it is. I don’t think it’s unfair at all. We are living a social experiment. We have no previous generation to ask how to do this or what works. Thank Apple for at least trying to give parents some control.

I feel like this is too over protective, if they are over 13 it is their choice to see inappropriate items on their device, they know whento sleep, how to be appropriate online, and what they should search up. This is violented there privacy. If you are a teen you should be able to enjoy yourself the way you want to, I get that you're concerned about what they are exposed to online and what they do but on a real note... that's *their* business. They know there sleep schedule and you shouldn't interrupt with that.
