mono removal is the person you want to choose to draw against. If they are trading 1-1 and not putting tons of pressure early, you want more cards.

For the "whats the play" I think the real answer is don't keep a hand of 2 islands and no playable cards.

I feel streamers have taught everyone to keep two land wrong color hands on arena😂

With this town ain't but enough and the 2 mana guy that fetches a land, he effectively has 4 lands, the ability to deflect an attack and gain some tempo. I'd keep the hand, you never know what you're mulliganing into.

@@MrVodka7up If Silver Deputy was in the opening hand, I agree that the hand would be fine. But in the scenario the opponent has a 3-drop in play, so it's a turn 3 deputy, which I assume was topdecked.

I do think red is the worst color, so I thought Seth's picks 2 and 3 were sort of a way to say "I don't wanna get trapped in red because of this rare". Especially because as good as Stingerback is, in a deck full of understatted red commons, it's gonna be a removal magnet with no protection and no etb. But then he kinda got trapped in red anyway, especially picking up Discerning Peddler and Quillback Charger in spots where I feel like it would have been fine to speculate on other colors So I'm really not sure where his mind was at haha Tough to navigate for sure, as always in the PT packs were drying up really fast

Harrier Strict does well with Duelist of the mind as well. Late game you can loot away lands and pump your duelist

Never watched the pocast on youtube before, looks great! Not sure i agree with the staying red arguement for the seth mansfield draft, while getting deep into red pack 1 can pay off, the fail case of someone cutting you and losing picks 1-3, would be brutal, and i wouldnt want to fight over red of all colors. If that was the direction i took, i would probably also go for the bristly bill pack2pick1, but again, what if the person next to you has the same thought and is drafting under you? Maybe the risk/reward of getting the nuts deck is worth it in a highly competitive environment, but it seems like an 'all in' strategy that could end in a trainwreck.

I went 7-1 with red white crimes if you have a two mana double strike and flyers both work well with mercenaries tokens

On Seth's picks, I think the Prairie Dog is reasonable since he valued the arynx that highly in pick 2. However, I don't know why he didn't just pick the derailment pack 2.

The best trick with Tumbleweed Rising isn't getting two 7/7s, but pairing it with temporary buffs to get a permanent 7/7 when you didn't already have one. Yesterday I went T2 plot Coyote (no other creatures in hand), T3 Smuggler's Surprise milling Stubborn Burrowfiend, T4 play Burrowfiend, give it haste/saddle with Coyote, attack as 7/7, then make a 7/7 with Tumbleweed Rising. Burrowfiend dies to Desert's Due next turn, but the 7/7 sticks around. (Probably a lot easier to play a 3-mana 4/2, then plot Aloe Alchemist and cast Tumbleweed Rising for your 7/7 on T4, but that hand went from sketchy to insane in such a hurry, I had to share it).

@@dickdeoreo Because I believe people like paper magic a lot more than digital. I may be wrong, but numbers on paper PTs are better than any online tournament. Going digital even in the pick phases of the draft would take the magic out of a very (if not the most) important part of the draft. I agree that the camera angle can be improved tho.
