Hi! This session is me demonstrating how to set up deep exr in Maya Arnold, render them and how to use them to do deep compositing in Nuke!
So what are deeps actually?
They are like your usual EXR with information of your RGB + Alpha while it also has an additional data of DEPTH PER PIXEL.
So what it mean is, you can render your render passes without matte/ holdout and still be able to layer them correctly in Nuke.
In this demo we will also talk about some of the basic Nodes that you will be using in Nuke;
DeepRead
DeepRecolor
DeepToPoints
DeepToImage
DeepMerge
DeepTransform
0:23 what is deep?
2:21 setting up deep renders by turning off primary visibility instead of matte
3:55 where to change the output format?
5:57 importing deep renders into Nuke
6:44 using deeprecolor
7:28 using deeptopoints to check the deep data
8:35 how to combine multiple render passes using deepmerge
9:50 cheating by using deeptransform
11:50 coverting deep back to regular image by using deeptoimage
14:10 using zdefocus
Thank you for watching and if you enjoy the content or want me to do more of such related content or have any questions, please feel free to drop them in the comment section. I will definitely look through all of them and reply them as much as I could!
Again, whatever technique used is solely based on my personal preference, it's by no means saying that this is the 100% right way of doing things and if you have a better approach, please do share it with me too!
Thank you!
