Cool setup! I didn't know you could use multiple instances of NINA to take care of the dithering synchronization like that. Looking forward to the next part.

It's pretty useful! But I also realized later that a 50mm lens is just not going to be dithered in a good way when done in parallel with a 760mm scope :-) But hey, it's all part of the fun!

Always informative and entertaining to dip into your channel. Hope your recovery from c19 is going well. Could you please let me know where you source your mounting rings for your camera lens/ cooled astro cam setup from. I am thinking of buying a Samyang 135mm f2 lens and attaching it to my asi 2600 mc pro. Any advice on this topic appreciated. Relevant to this video as I was thinking of mounting the Samyang lens and a guide scope, side by side using an ADM bracket. Thanks, Des

Are you sure you are lazy? lol! Great video. My favourite type of videos are where they are not processed, and just raw imaging session - as a noobie, i learn a lot more this way!
@CuivTheLazyGeek

That makes sense! I try to keep most of my videos unprocessed: it helps me save time, and if it can make the videos be more useful at the same time... Two (poor) birds with one stone!

I'm more lazy than you ... lol ! I don't do manual alignments anymore, but I identify 2 or 3 stars on CdC, I do a slew and a couple of plate solving and synchronizations until target is in the center of the field. It's an electronic 3-star alignment ... After that I am able to hit every target on the first attempt. I use SGPro but I think that N.I.N.A. is able to do this. A tip, since the first slew takes me away from the target, I do a blind solving, because PS2 would definitely fail (it's a system for near plate solving). After the first synchronization I switch to PS2, which is much faster than astrometry.net-based blind solving (local or remote). Ehm ... sorry for my bad english ... I hope you understand what I wrote.
@CuivTheLazyGeek

Giovanni, thanks for the feedback! I completely understand what you're saying! :) During this session, my main goal was to align both imaging trains together, so I was far less lazy than usual :) I usually actually just slew to target I want to image, do a Plate-Solve with ASTAP from N.I.N.A. (I prefer it over PS2 personally, it's faster and it can solve blind too), let the scope sync and recenter and I'm good to go! I've longed stopped even doing an alignment, relying fully on automated plate-solving, syncing, and recentering from NINA for everything :) So we're all very lazy, which is perfect! Let's keep optimizing laziness to a maximum :)

Cuiv, The Lazy Geek Yes, I agree on everything. The 3-star alignment is something for visual observers, to photograph just do a plate solving or two and you are ready. A few days ago I downloaded and installed ASTAP in SGPro, at the next evening with good weather (Salerno is like Tokyo), I will see if I can do just one plate solving without going through blind solving. We are lazy ... hooray the lazy ! Ah, this is me ... www.astrobin.com/users/jriver/ P.S. Your channel is the first one I subscribe to, and there are many more ( Visibledark Astro, Chuck's astrophotography, Astroforum, James Lamb, Roswell Astronomy, AstroBackyard, and so on) ... Ooops, couldn't I mention them? But you are funny, good and have deep theoretical knowledge, hw (scope, mount, cameras) and sw. Keep it up and don't get tired!

Very nice! I hope you'll have good ways of calibrating those cameras! A 450D was one of my first cameras, and I didn't enjoy taking darks for it (I remember writing a Python utility that would match darks to lights based on EXIF information). This will be a killer setup though!!

I have been trying for a year to align my two scopes as for some reason I cant plate solve with the one, I have an ED80/asi1600 mono (which is my main scope but I also have a MAK 127 and an asi 224. they are on a dual saddle if i get my ed 80 on the moon the mak is not and vice versa, I know there is an adjustable saddle but silly money. great video I might look into it again maybe a packer on one side will get it there there abouts
@CuivTheLazyGeek
4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, without a rings or one of those expensive adjustable saddles, it's really difficult - one of the NINA devs, darkarchon, uses something like a hammer or whatever to tap the dovetail in the right direction! I wouldn't attempt that though...! A Mak 127 has a really long focal length too. Good luck!

@@CuivTheLazyGeek if it was just a case of moving left to right it could be an easy fix, the problem is if it needs adjusting up or down, in the meantime i will carry on using my minicam which sits on the MAK as the main centering tool with the wider FOV

@@CuivTheLazyGeek Geek? I have an RPi here logging data to a database so I can build an ASCOM environment thingy and also, building a dashboard to see what I am actually graphing. Why? Because I can. If I was younger and more photogenic, I might build a channel to show me doing geeky things. I only found out a day or so ago about synchronised dithering. But as per usual, my NUC died just when I wanted to try it out.
